After 11 years of admiration and friendship, I relished the live studio session in London, together with the legendary @HarryStebbings @twentyminutevc!! We covered the gamut! Including why you need to really love each investment, how "the right kind" of nepo baby can make an exceptional founder and why photonic computing may be the next great computing platform ... piped.video/watch?v=PDaGwInq…

I was so lucky to participate in the seed funding for Trialpay (sold to @Visa) - courtesy of these 2 exceptional founders @terryangelos @arampell @a16z. They have both gone on to do even more amazing work! 🙏🙏👏👏 This is tee'd to listen tonight!
The wallet wars are here. Very Good Security chief strategy officer Terry Angelos joins a16z's Alex Rampell, his TrialPay co-founder from back in 2006 (TrialPay was later acquired by Visa), to discuss how agents are learning to spend money. "Agents have all of a sudden become significantly more helpful and useful because they effectively have arms and legs, which are payment credentials." VGS holds the payment credentials behind about 1/3 of all e-commerce, and now it's helping AI agents pay merchants. If you've bought anything online, there's a good chance VGS has already helped keep your card safe. In the last three months, Terry says agents went from "spectators to actors." Once an agent has your payment credentials, it can book the piano teacher it previously could only find and recommend. Now Stripe's Link, Shopify's Shop Pay, and PayPal are racing to connect to agents. It's all headed toward open standards from the card networks: agentic tokens that let an agent pay with your actual card. VGS went from zero agentic tokens to a few million a week in three months. 0:55 From TrialPay to Visa to VGS 2:05 How VGS vaults 1/3 of e-commerce 6:05 Why big merchants use 3-5 processors 9:55 Why AI agents need a payment vault 12:15 Agents go from "spectators to actors" 13:40 The wallet wars, old and new 19:55 Walled gardens vs open standards 23:55 How agents can pay with your real card 26:40 Your saved card goes multiplayer 29:40 How do you trust an agent's purchase? 32:35 Who pays when your agent gets it wrong 35:40 Why Amazon blocks agents 39:50 What's overhyped and underhyped 43:35 When merchants get agents too 45:40 Why agents could break card rewards 47:00 VGS's eras: vault, updates, network @terryangelos @arampell

This conveys a normalcy which is so abnormal. Chillingly so. Very fast paced (need to watch again). Even more disturbing if watched since Chapter 1. Build the store 🚀
So much of what frustrates people about healthcare should be simple. People just want to know what they need, where to get it, and what it will cost. That’s why @GeneralMedicine built a store.

Proud Short King here! Five funds in <$100M. Our analysis shows the median exit outcome of the past 25 years is ~$2.7B of the TOP 500 EXITS. Sure you can raise a huge fund to get the top 3-5 outliers which are bigger than ever. That is a highly risky strategy for all but a few. Everyone else is just trying to emulate a low probability game. I think some are trading power law for power ball ;) nitter.siddz.com/fcollective/status/207…

We’re building in Australia, with Australian partners, for missions at home and around the world. At #LandForces2026 in Perth, we showcased V-BAT, Hivemind, Aechelon and Vision Systems, backed by a local team of 100+ that we expect to double over the next year. We also announced our work with Innovaero to bring Hivemind mission autonomy to the Australian-designed OWL-B. We welcomed leaders from across Defence, Army, government and industry to our booth, including David Nockels, First Assistant Secretary for Defence Trade, Regulations and Industrial Collaboration, and Major General Chris Smith, Deputy Chief of Army. Mark Palmer also took the stage to share lessons from Ukraine and how they apply to Australia’s operating environment. Autonomy for the world. The greatest victory requires no war.

A Letter to the World’s Leftists and to Righteous People : 7th of October. There are days history writes in ink, days it writes in tears, and days so terrible that history writes their names in blood. October 7 was such a day. The morning came quietly. Some were sleeping. Some were praying. Mothers were beside their children. Then Hamas terrorists, the Palestinian Muslim Brotherhood, entered homes in Israel. Blood. Fire. Screams. Women were raped. Children were burned. Families were executed. Babies were kidnapped. Jews were hunted and murdered. Homes that once held prayers, laughter and children's footsteps became places of death. Beds became graves. A mother's arms became empty. A child's room waited for a child who would not return. There are no words large enough for such grief. Only the silence afterward. The silence of a mother waiting for her child. The silence left when evil has finished screaming. Once again, Jews were murdered for being Jews. An ancient nightmare suddenly had a date in the present tense. The old hatred had found new mouths and new excuses. From my country, the United Arab Emirates, a Muslim Arab country, came a voice within minutes calling it by its name: A terrorist attack. No excuse. No ideology can make rape resistance. No slogan can make burning a child justice. No flag can make kidnapping a baby freedom. And yet, London. Paris. Toronto. You would have expected tears. Instead, people celebrated while Jewish families searched for the missing and children remained with kidnappers. People waved the flag of the kidnappers of babies instead of demanding freedom for the babies. This was another wound of October 7. Innocent people were murdered, while others had forgotten how to mourn them. It felt as though civilisation had turned backwards. Back toward 1936. Back toward the old darkness. That was where morals failed. I have travelled to universities around the world and stood beside Jewish communities attacked simply for being Jewish, to tell them: You have a friend here. When the Holocaust happened, I was not there. I cannot go backwards and stop the trains or take one terrified child by the hand. But I was alive on October 7. And I had a choice. One day my children may ask: Where did you stand? I want to tell them: I stood with the baby, not his kidnapper. I stood with the mother, not her rapist. I stood with the murdered, not the murderer. I stood with the Jew hunted simply for being a Jew. When people found sophisticated words to excuse barbarism, I chose humanity's simplest word: No. No to rape. No to kidnapping. No to burning children. No to terrorism. No to antisemitism. Hamas, the Palestinian Muslim Brotherhood, may have lost in Gaza, but an ideology does not die because it loses a battlefield. Look at the streets of the West, universities, some parliaments and city councils. Too many young minds have become hostages to propaganda for Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran's proxies in the West. When you become silent about an October 7, you do not guarantee that October 7 will remain in the past. Hatred begins as a sentence before it becomes a scream. Extremism begins as an excuse before it becomes an act. Evil first asks to be tolerated, then excused, then normalised. Remember October 7. Remember the empty beds. Remember the empty arms. Remember the kidnapped. Remember the murdered. Remember Jewish families hunted in the one place every human should believe is safe: home. Be like my country, the UAE, where antisemitism is not an opinion to celebrate. It is a crime. Where the Muslim Brotherhood is banned, not romanticised as activists. History will ask something simple: When a child cried, where did you stand? On October 7, I knew my answer. With the baby, not the kidnapper. With the mother, not her rapist. With the innocent, not the terrorist. And when my children read this chapter of history, I want them to know: Their father did not look away.

So psyched for @GeneralMedicine @tjparker @elliotcohen. This is @PillPack bring-back-the-band on steroids. So grateful to have @fcollective invested at the getgo. I love this team
General Medicine has raised a $120M Series B led by @a16z. We're using it to build the healthcare store. The only way healthcare will work is to make the customer the most powerful participant in the system. And the only way to do that is to let them shop. Here’s why healthcare needs a store, and what we had to build to make it possible:

I have said this before. This is 2021 on steroids. Yes, amazing companies are being built, faster than ever. But 99% are not and venture has never been less disciplined. This will not end well for most.
