when jules and I stood here months ago,
in the heat of summer, hot wind blowing, blue skies above, we knew we were going to do something special
but no matter how many times it played out in my head the last few months, i could have never imagined the real impact, the real magic.
whilst quietly standing in the distance and observing, it finally hit me.
children's imaginations running wild with it, groups of friends memorializing their trip with a group photo, countless selfies, priceless family photos...
then i turn around and see a setting sun, and the silhouettes of hundreds of the most talented, dedicated people I know, all gathered in one place.
tears in my eyes,
this is what we do it for,
the blood, the sweat, the tears
Thank you to everyone who gave us their presence.
and thank you to Jules—
you push me beyond my limits,
you inspire me like no other.
how lucky am I to call you my friend

and I've never felt closer to achieving that than I did this week in Marfa with so many of you.

MARFA never disappoints. I strongly recommend making the trip next year. It’s a journey to get there, and I think that’s part of what makes it so special.
To me, MARFA feels like an artist pilgrimage, and a chance for collectors to get to know the artists and their work more intimately.
The generosity of the patrons, sponsors, and locals goes a long way in making everyone who makes the journey feel welcome.
Many people in our space, from artists and collectors to builders and spectators, may be introverts. That’s why these smaller, more intimate gatherings can be so wonderful.
I hope to see even more collectors and builders there next year, showing up for the artists who are putting themselves out there. The range of raw talent is incredible.
Regardless, you’ll leave MARFA with great memories, and an expanded digital art family.
