This year has been a trying year for my family. Wife has had to deal with surgery, chemo, and now radiation for stage 3 breast cancer. To help my kids cope and thrive I’m having my kids hit a lot of balls everyday (table tennis and tennis). It’s part distraction but it’s also a way for them to grow in their coordination, reflexes, athleticism, and more. It keeps them positive, active and eager to learn and grow. Focus on the ball and hit it. Hundreds of times everyday. Something good will come out of it. At least that’s my hope.

Wow!
Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.

I recorded a podcast a few days ago on the drive to the Roadster event with @emmetpeppers . We talked about possible Tesla/SpaceX merger, Cybercab, and Tesla’s lineup.

“The only things that will scale to incredible size (K2 and beyond) economically are super intelligence, robots, solar power and mass to space.” A big reason why SpaceX and Tesla ought to merge. Super intelligence and robots might seem separate now but over time they will combine and become super intelligent robots. Optimus needs the best super intelligence. Tesla + SpaceX will have the best chance at winning at super intelligence and super intelligent robots.
Replying to @Teslaconomics
Optimus and Cybercab will be the vast majority of Tesla’s value. The only things that will scale to incredible size (K2 and beyond) economically are super intelligence, robots, solar power and mass to space. And, of course, if you have the first two, the rest will follow. But Roadster is super cool, so we’re doing it anyway.

Saw the Roadster demo last night and on drive back to Austin recorded a podcast with @emmetpeppers . We talk about our impressions on the Roadster, possible SpaceX merger, Optimus and where AI is headed.

All of a sudden there's a new category of cars call non-flying cars.
Real life, baby

The flying Roadster is something probably only Tesla + SpaceX could do.

Looking forward to attending the Roadster event tomorrow. Would be amazing if they gave rides in a Tesla Robovan too.

300+ Cybercabs in Austin. Exciting times.
One month after launch, we've scaled to 300+ Cybercabs serving Austin – an 8x increase in 30 days

Just downgraded my Google Ultra AI subscription. I barely ever use Gemini considering how good Fable, Opus and Astra have become. What a disappointment that Gemini Pro has been stuck on 3.1 forever. Google is in such an amazing position with their cloud infrastructure, TPUs, enterprise offerings, YouTube, Search, Android. Yet they risk botching things up with slower execution vs Anthropic/OpenAI.

I asked Fable 5.1 to create an animation about the human body and how people learn. 1,409 lines of code, 87 KB file.

The future of cars as imagined by Fable 5.1 (or 5.5?). I don't agree with it all but nevertheless interesting to see how AI imagines the future.

I gave Fable 5.1 (might have routed it to Fable 5.5) the following prompt: Make a crazy animation of what the next 30 years will look like. Do something that people did not know is possible. It generated a 98 second film in 41 KB of code.

I had Fable 5.1 (but maybe was routed to Fable 5.5?) make a funny animated cartoon using a short simple prompt. It one-shotted this. What surprised me the most is the output was no images, just 1045 lines of code in a single 63 KB html file. 🤯 Bloop: A Perfectly Normal Cartoon

It's more astounding if you actually look at the code. Hard to wrap my mind that this was only 1045 lines of code.

Grok ought to go all in on coding. Focus. Win at coding, win everything.
I'm starting to think Anthropic has no image generation model on purpose. Future models won't need one. Instead of guessing pixels, they'll write the code that draws the image: SVG for graphics, HTML for layouts, Python for charts, 3D engines for realistic scenes. Images made from code are precise and editable, and the text is always right. The obvious pushback is photorealism. But movies and video games already create realistic images entirely from code. A model good enough at driving those tools gets there too. Why build an image model when your coding model can become one?

Anthropic is winning the frontier model race because they've been more focused on coding than anyone else.
