I am grateful to the reporter, Julie, for this thoughtful article
She spent her time to really learn about what we're proposing with @esmeralda_inst, interviewed tons of people, & dug deep on history & context
This is sadly not a given in journalism these days, so I'm extra grateful when it does happen!
There's a subtler signal too, one I see in myself:
When I'm slow to reply, it's usually either because (a) I'm stuck on a decision or (b) it just isn't a priority
So if somebody is slow, I've learned to update priors that they are either indecisive or they don't care that much
A corollary to (a):
Sometimes when I feel writers' block, a glass of wine helps me get thoughts out of my head and onto the page
(I try not to send emails / texts / publish until I can review it sans wine though – draft drunk, edit sober!)
