Listening to the latest @soldersmoke podcast and they mentioned my YouTube video on measuring crystal motional parameters. Very cool! piped.video/watch?v=y-rCgumT…
Pulled a couple of nice variable caps out of some old a.m. radios I picked up at the thrift store. Both multi-ganged, smooth rotation. The left one has a nice gear reduction drive too.
Very likely the worlds worst receiver, built up on 3 copper clad PCBs, but still a thrill to hear a local ham calling CQ on 40m with just a few feet of wire antenna strung up in my basement!
Signal is a bit noisy due to solderless breadboard, flying leads, poor supply decoupling, etc; even so, zoomed in at 100mv/div at least three levels of recursion in the fractal are easy to make out.
