Nuclear Pore Complexes (NPCs) are the gateways to the nucleus, but how can they be both rapid and picky, even for very large cargoes? To answer this question, we built the most detailed data-driven model to date of nucleocytoplasmic transport: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.25…

Doing a very rough analysis (very dirty data) of biopharmas with over $100m raised. This is what i’m getting and it seems very wrong. But maybe its my intuition that is off (?). Boston Metro: 183 companies Bay Area Metro: 102 companies San Diego Metro: 187 companies

Check out this cool work! Kudos to @ReikaWatanabe2 for leading the establishment of the #InSitu #cryoET pipeline at #LJI. She is such a powerhouse!
Our in-situ structural analysis of the Ebola virus nucleocapsid is now published in @CellCellPress! Using cryo-FIB-ET, we revealed a 9Å structure, identifying novel layers and conserved interfaces that may serve as antiviral targets. #Ebola #Virology #StructuralBiology

Leveraging in-cell #cryoEM, we explored the neighborhood of different NPCs and found observed a clear chromatin exclusion around the mammalian NPC & created a 3D map of the basket with this surrounding exclusion, highlighting its potential impact on #ChromatinOrganization.

It is great to see the #MicroED field growing and gaining momentum. I am aware of 5 new PIs that were hired this year. I am proud to say that 4 of those talented individuals were postdocs from our lab & they are now off to start their own groups. So proud of their achievements 😁

Congrats to Barak et al. for this tour de force on modeling the nucleocytoplasmic transport! happy to make a small contribution to it!
New year, new manuscript! Our work on mapping transport between the nucleus and the cytoplasm is now on BioRxiv, and it's time to embark on a journey through the nuclear pore complex. Nuclear what? Bear with me! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
