The Abundance Index, Issue 21: Make It Usable

A better result is a start. Getting it into somebody's hands still takes a surprising amount of work. October 30, 2026 Overall Abundance Score: 78/100 Status: Down one point from Issue 20's 79. This

Kimi just plugged itself into Blender and CAD. 3D Make has it build models, lay out scenes, even rough out games by driving the real tools. That should mean files you can actually open and tweak, not a mystery blob. The one-person game studio just got a lot less lonely. 🎮 nitter.siddz.com/Kimi_Moonshot/status/2…
Introducing 3D Make in Kimi. Kimi connects to tools like Blender and CAD tools to create models, assemble scenes, and develop games. Available now on kimi.ai and Kimi Work.

No ratings. No thumbs up. No prompt. Sabi says it trained an image model using EEG brain signals as the reward, so a face reshapes itself toward what the person looking at it actually finds attractive. Your taste, not the internet's average. That's a wild new feedback channel. But brain data is about as private as data gets. Who stores it, who owns it, and does it ever get near an ad server? Cool tech. Now who owns the signal? 🧠 nitter.siddz.com/rahulchhabra07/status/…
Introducing RL with Neural Feedback (RLNF). We have found reliable ways to train AI models to respond to human preferences purely from brain signals. The example below is a picture of a face that self-transforms into a more attractive version for the subject as they are looking at it.

Antibodies make great drugs, but GPCRs have been a pain to hit with them. Pythia Labs says its Pythia-1 model designed full-length human antibodies from scratch that switch these receptors on or off in cells. One design round, minimal screening. Several single-digit nM blockers, plus one activator about as strong as the natural signal. They're releasing the sequences, so anyone can check the work. Fewer dead ends in drug discovery? Yes please. 🧬 nitter.siddz.com/PythiaLabs/status/2115…
We built Pythia-1, a frontier generative model for therapeutic discovery, to expand the reach of antibody therapeutics to hard-to-drug targets. In our latest study, we used it to design full-length human antibodies that activate or inhibit GPCRs in cells. To our knowledge, a first for de novo design. With just one design round and minimal screening, we identified multiple antagonists with single-digit nM inhibitory potency and an agonist with potency comparable to the receptor's natural ligand. Designed antibodies also demonstrated favorable developability profiles. Read the preprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.64898… We're releasing the sequences: pythialabs.com/

We're rapidly approaching a world where creating 3D assets is as casual as taking a picture. Games, simulations, AR, product design, virtual worlds... Every time another barrier falls, millions of potential creators get a new set of tools.
New image to 3D generator called Idol. Works with low VRAM, generates in ~2s. huggingface.co/speridlabs/id…

DeepMind economists (Alex Imas, Andrew Koh, Shane Legg) have a neat answer to "if AI is so smart, why does the economy look the same?" Smarter solo agents aren't the unlock. Agents that can actually coordinate inside a company are. And they think it hits wages first, before jobs or market structure. A way better question than "is it smarter than a human yet?" Somebody build the coordination benchmark. 🤝
I joined @GoogleDeepMind to develop a research program on the economics of AGI. Today, together with Andrew Koh (@andrewjkoh) and Shane Legg (@ShaneLegg), we are incredibly excited to release The Economics of Intelligence, the first in a series of projects from our group on how AGI will change the economy. How do capability improvements transform the economy, and when? In this project, we define thresholds of economic capabilities, e.g., minimal AGI, based on how they transform the economy. We then track how the economy–market structure, employment, and wages–changes during the transition across capability regimes. We have seen exponential increases in what AI agents can do but the broader economy seems almost remarkably unchanged. Part of the reason is that the solo AI agent is the wrong economic object; economic transformation is an equilibrium outcome where organizations compete. Looking at how intelligence functions within organizations, transformation will depend on when two key capability thresholds are crossed: competence (gains on individual skills, e.g., coding, math) and coordination (gains on ability of agents to cooperate and work together). We show that what economic transformation looks like depends on whether AI becomes supercompetent, supercooperative, or both—the regime of artificial superintelligence (ASI). Tracking this transition shows why the real visible transformation may come from improvements in coordination—a capability most benchmarks don’t yet track. Past a certain threshold, AI capabilities can break the Coasian ceiling on firm size and lead to an economy that looks drastically different than the one we see today. Two main takeaways: 1. To understand the path of transformation, we should be tracking agentic coordination more closely. 2. The impact of AI will likely show up in wages before market structure or employment. We are really excited about this paper. Excited to hear people’s thoughts. Link: institute.deepmind.com/essay…

Robots don't fail at "clean the kitchen" because they can't move. They fail at step 4 of 13. Scale and Hugging Face just open-sourced FineART: 40K+ robot demos, 151 tasks, 500K+ hand-labeled steps, plus an open model trained to use them. It's a dataset. But open data is how every lab gets better robots, not just the three richest ones. Build the damn robots. 🤖
Better robots start with better data. FineART pairs 500K+ hand-annotated robot steps with an open model built to learn from them, helping close a critical gap in teaching robots to complete complex, multi-step tasks.

Pika just open-sourced a video model. Pika. Didn't have that on my 2026 bingo card. H3 Flex launched as the #1 open-weight model on DesignArena's text-to-video board. Up to 4K, audio stems, ComfyUI support on day one. Early testers say 4K and stems are API-only for now, and the free demo is slow. Fine. The weights are out, and the community will make it fast. Open video keeps getting better. 🎬
Meet Pika H3 Flex, debuting today as the #1 open weight model on DesignArena’s t2v board. It’s built for professional iteration, with exportable audio stems, resolutions up to 4k, and faster-than-realtime generation. It can produce a 15-second clip with soundtrack in as little as 7 seconds. So, yeah. It’s kind of a flex 💅

Palmer is a GD national treasure
Palmer Luckey says analysts claiming it's too expensive to manufacture in the US are lying to protect megacorps "I think I have a more realistic view than almost anybody. One of the problems with all these analysts that are telling you that it's going to cost $37,000 to build an American iPhone or $100,000 to buy an American computer." "They're trying to prop up a status quo that the megacorporations want to keep going. They want to outsource everything. They want to hire cheaper non-American labor." "They are willing to say and do anything to convince you that it can't be fixed, that it can't come back, that America is this helpless, neutered, post-relevant empire, and it is just not the case." "How do I know that? Because I have to make stuff in America every day because I work in the defense industry. The stuff that Anduril makes every day is not actually that different from a computer. My drones are basically computers. They have memory, a GPU, a CPU, sensors, batteries, a rugged integration." "The only difference between an Anduril attack drone and a laptop is a keyboard and a screen. That is not that hard to figure out, especially for a guy like me who started Oculus and comes from the consumer electronics space." "We're not going to let people lie about what America can and can't do anymore. We're just going to do it."

Normally "startup gets acquired" is when the open-source project quietly starts dying. Deepgram buying Daily seems to be going the other way. Pipecat stays BSD, gets its own independent foundation, and the founder becomes Head of Open Source. Will the promise hold? Watch the commits. But this is how you do it. Voice agents for everybody. 🎙️

Mistral just dropped the weights for a 1-trillion-parameter model. On Hugging Face. Download it, tune it, run it on your own iron. Is it the best open model? No. DeepSeek and GLM still beat it. And the license has strings if you want to resell it as an API. But a Western lab putting frontier-ish weights in your hands, with 39% fewer tokens and way fewer hallucinations than the preview? Yes, please. More weights, more choices. 🧱
Today, we release the weights of a new and improved Le Chonk, advancing the open frontier for agentic coding and cybersecurity. 💻 Built to build: Le Chonk ranks #1 on @cognition’s FrontierCode among open models, and sets a new benchmark for Pareto efficiency on @artificialanalysis. 🛡 Built to defend: State-of-the-art in cyberdefense, put through the paces by the world's leading cyber vendors, including @CrowdStrike, @cloudflare, @rubrik, @zscaler, and others. Built for sovereignty: Make it yours. Download the weights on @huggingface , customize it with Mistral Forge, and deploy it wherever you need it. Read more from our team and customers 👇:

423 KB. An entire procedurally generated, seemingly endless 3D city running right in your browser. The barrier between having an idea and actually building it is collapsing at an absurd pace. We're watching the cost of experimentation approach zero, and I don't think people fully appreciate what that unlocks. What a time to be building. 🚀
the whole city is just 423 KB of code

Video models used to be: type a prompt, wait, pray, re-roll. XMAX X2.1 on Reactor runs in real time. Drag a character to move and pose it, multi-touch to steer several at once, swap outfits and backgrounds on the fly. It's a hosted demo, so no weights to run at home yet, and a slick 38-second reel isn't a stress test. But video you play with like a puppet instead of prompting like a slot machine? That's where creative tools are headed. Directors, not prompters. 🎬 nitter.siddz.com/reactorworld/status/21…
Introducing XMAX X2.1, a real-time interactive video model by @XmaxAIOfficial, now on Reactor. • Drag to move and pose subjects. • Control multiple subjects at once with multi-touch. • Swap characters, outfits and backgrounds. Try it: reactor.inc/models/xmax-x2-1

If you look closely enough, breakthroughs in everything are accelerating exponentially. An exponential always starts off looking small.
this might be my last normal tweet before biotech goes vertical i'm not a whistleblower. I don't work at Lilly, Novo or any of the big labs but there is a massive shift happening in human biology right now. it's sitting in press releases and almost nobody reads them the last 6 months alone: - a once-daily pill roughly doubled median survival in metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months) - a one-time gene editing infusion cut hereditary angioedema attacks 87%, and 62% of patients stayed attack-free and off all other prevention for 6 months - a one-time gene edit for cholesterol dropped LDL up to 62%, and it held for over a year - a personalized mrna vaccine beat keytruda alone in a 1,137 patient melanoma phase 3 - retatrutide hit ~28% weight loss in a phase 3 - an ai-designed drug entered phase 3 - a pill that regrows hair passed its second phase 3 - an immunotherapy that could let some rectal cancer patients skip surgery, chemo and radiation just got fda approved - a man lived 271 days off dialysis on a pig kidney - human cells were caught passing chromosome-sized chunks of DNA to their neighbors, and it changes how the neighbors behave we are on the verge of an era where the human body is a software problem and the update cycle gets shorter everyday stick around, it's going to get weird bio/acc

AGIBOT wants robots judged by the work they actually do, not their demo reels. New metric, "Worken": active robots × autonomous hours × efficiency. 10 robots running 6 hours each at 80% efficiency = 48 Worken. "How many useful hours did it actually work?" is exactly the right question. Fewer backflips, more shifts. 🤖 nitter.siddz.com/AGIBOTofficial/status/…
AGIBOT Innovation Day 2026: Embodied AI, From Innovation to Real Work. 🤖 What does it take to turn embodied AI into real-world productivity? At AGIBOT Innovation Day 2026, we introduced Worken, a proposed framework for measuring the productive work robots perform in real-world environments — looking beyond deployment numbers to how autonomously and effectively they complete tasks.
