Well, somebody might want to inform the Modern War Institute at West Point, the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the U.S. Army War College, and basically every United States military commander, military scholar, and historian who has written extensively about this subject over the past four years that apparently they've all been wrong. At this point, I'm genuinely speechless. Military historians, please feel free to chime in on this discussion. Here's a perfect example. The Modern War Institute at West Point has published research on this very subject. What else is there to say? mwi.westpoint.edu/urban-warf…
In recounting once again this story of the battle for Kyiv that has zero connection to reality, Trump seems to be really disappointed that Russia didn’t end the war by conquering Kyiv in four hours.
Community note
Russian tanks did use highways to Kyiv in 2022 and took heavy losses. The main reason the 40-mile convoy failed was it lacked fuel and food. Ukraine blew bridges, flooded the Irpin, and ambushed columns. nbcpalmsprings.com/2025/08/15/fac… rusi.org/explore-our-re… npr.org/2022/03/01/108… mwi.westpoint.edu/urban-warfare-… euronews.com/my-europe/2025…

"Judging by how frequently Trump has been bashing Ukraine and praising Putin over the past 10 days, there's a clause in his 'diesel deal' specifying he's paid by the hour"
Судя по тому, с какой частотой Трамп ругает Украину и хвалит Путина в последние 10 дней, в его "дизельной сделке" есть пункт о почасовой оплате.

What's the point of trying to fix claudisms or stabilise Claude Code or build a pleasant product when you're in the world's best funded doomsday cult?

The reason why Claude is so dog shit at communicating (and is getting worse) is that Anthropic is not in the useful LLM tools business. Anthropic thinks they are in the god building business and sells you some of their scaffolding.

Pseudologia fantastica (mythomania): A pathological tendency to fabricate stories, exaggerate events, and repeatedly recount one's own fantasies. The person may even partially believe their own fabrications. Perseveration: A pathological fixation on a particular thought, topic, or statement, which the person repeats over and over again, even when the situation does not call for it. Delusions: Fixed false beliefs that a person firmly holds despite compelling evidence to the contrary. These beliefs may become the central focus of their conversations.
Trump on Ukraine War: The Russians had a thousand tanks riding up a concrete highway. They would have been in Ukraine in four hours, going maximum tank speed, which is 48 miles an hour, to be exact. Nothing to stop them. The war would have been over in one day. And this very stupid general—I have no idea who he is. I doubt he’s still with us. I doubt he’s still living. He decided to hang a right onto the farmland and then take a left and go up to Kyiv, rather than staying on the highway—the concrete highway, perfectly good highway—where they were doing very nicely. It would have been three and a half, four hours, and the whole war would have ended. He ended up getting stuck in the mud.

Welcome to modern internet banking, recently described as "amazing, innovative, disruptive, moving fast and leaving legacy in the dust" It's all built on GCP and AWS. Infortunately, a lot of legacy is now, too.
a 6 hour (so far) FULL OUTAGE across EVERY SYSTEM is absolutely deranged for a bank @Revolut's entire infra team should be fired, holy absolute failure of the most critical aspect of a financial institution - availability

America's gifts to Russia never end, with Russian military bloggers now confirming that Washington's operation to cut Ukraine's Starlink has halted Ukraine's ability to strike Russian logistics routes in Ukraine. An operation likely written in the Kremlin, executed by Washington.

Russian military blogger says Ukrainian mid-range drone strikes on the main Russian supply route in occupied southern Ukraine have almost ceased because of the throttling of Starlink. No need to elaborate on what this new freedom of logistics for Russia means for the frontline.

russia has run into serious problems with its offensive in Donbas, where its forces have become bogged down. One of the main reasons was that russian logistics had been crippled by Ukrainian drone strikes. This campaign depended heavily on Starlink terminals operating on high-speed Ukrainian drones. russian military command identified this as a critical problem and approached the American side, asking it to restrict the speeds at which Starlink terminals could operate. The argument was simple: there would be little public backlash because the US could still claim that Starlink was operational and that the service was still being provided. The Trump administration agreed to the restrictions, effectively solving a critical battlefield problem for Russia. As a result, russian logistics in Donbas are now safer, and Ukraine has lost an important advantage on the battlefield.

All these horrific acts by the White House against Ukraine are aimed at forcing Zelensky to sign a fake peace agreement before the US midterm elections. Putin will get massive and permanent concessions to build his war machine, and the fake ceasefire will be broken the day after the election by Russia but blamed on Ukraine. That's the plan.
🇺🇸🇺🇦🇳🇴White House envoy @SteveWitkoff is traveling now to Oslo for a meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky on Tuesday, a U.S. official said 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇳🇴The Oslo discussions are expected to include President Zelensky, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, representatives of the E4, the European Union, and NATO. The objective is to continue aligning on a comprehensive proposal that can form the basis for renewed negotiations with Russia 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺The U.S. official said that following Oslo, Witkoff is also planning to travel to Russia, where he hopes to meet with President Putin and present ideas developed in close consultation with Ukraine and European partners 🇺🇸Jared Kushner has the flu and is not attending in-person in the Oslo meeting so as to not get others sick, but he will participate virtually, the U.S. official said 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺The planned meetings in Oslo build on the discussions held at Shell Bay, where President Zelensky committed to reviewing and advancing a series of proposals aimed at creating a pathway toward a comprehensive and durable peace agreement, the U.S. official added 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺The U.S. official noted that over the past week, American, Ukrainian, and European representatives have been working closely at the technical level to develop these proposals. 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺"Steve and Jared also spoke with President Zelensky on Sunday to review progress and discuss next steps", the U.S. official said 🇺🇸🇷🇺The trip is also expected to include efforts to seek the release of wrongfully detained American citizen Hubbard, reflecting President Trump’s continued commitment to bringing Americans home, the U.S. official said 🇺🇸🇷🇺🇺🇦"President Trump has directed an intensive process to develop a comprehensive peace proposal with Ukraine and Europe, and the next step is to test whether that work can form the basis for serious negotiations with Russia", the U.S. official said. 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺The U.S. official added: "These discussions remain fluid, and substantial work remains. President Trump’s objective is clear: to end the killing, bring the war to a close, and establish the conditions for a lasting peace that benefits Ukraine, Russia, Europe, and the United States"

Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."

Q: Have you agreed to a trilateral meeting with Putin and Xi? Trump: I would do it. Not for Ukraine, because Russia has been fine on Ukraine.
