Man - 1001 Pennsylvania Ave NW is a cursed space for out of towners. Tadich Grill lasted a little more than two years, closing in 2018, and now Cafe Fiorello is closing after one and a half years. Hope it takes less than seven years to find a suitable tenant for the nice space.

Different organization, same problem. I hope the next mayor can fix restaurant permitting. So many small businesses struggle to get through the lengthy process, with weeks-long waits for every minor revision. Heard recently from multiple people burning through cash while waiting.
.@dcra permitting is hampering businesses. When a restaurant opening is delayed, it's often because they're waiting on permits. I recently heard from an owner who was forced to scrap plans to open because they ran out of cash while waiting months for a certificate of occupancy.
