Just my opinion — but healthcare, education, and the arts for Americans are more important than helping to kill children in Gaza or wherever.

Shithole country
I want to see genocide deniers come out and say, "I would gladly welcome what is happening to Palestinians to happen to me and my family." Which is what exactly again? Being politely asked to leave their homes on a volunteer basis, and if they choose not to, it's no big deal?

Conservatives: I see anger. Must be brown people. Conservatives: I see brown people. They must be angry.
News: The French are rioting over high cost of living and under-resourced high schools. The rioters: Yes, that's what we are rioting over. The French government: Yupp, they're rioting over that. Everyone: Yepp, that's whats happening. The far right: Da Blacks! Da Muzlims!

What absolute horseshit from someone I used to admire.
If we want to continue progress in science, we must be prepared to acknowledge that the correct description of nature will eventually simply be too complicated for humans to understand. I do not think it is wise to make human understanding a requirement. AI is the way forward.

Same here in Arkansas. French Hill ads saying he's gonna bring down grocery prices. He's been the rep since 2015.
It's funny how Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton are running on "Fixing Texas" when the Republicans have controlled the entire state for 30 goddamn years

people in the US don’t protest like they do in France because the propaganda in the US is so strong that people internalize their failures instead of correctly seeing it as a product of a immoral, capitalist system

Ever notice how things like "Do more with AI mode" never have the X in the corner to close them, unlike pretty much everything else on computers?

Ironic that 25 years after 9/11, Muslims might save America.

To the people, especially those in the United States, who don’t understand the protests in France: A government that doesn’t fear the people is a government that doesn’t serve the people.
Protesters in Montpellier, France unveil a banner that reads: “The People Will Triumph!” The working class is humanity’s last line of defense against the neoliberal and neofascist politicians who work together to sell us out to the billionaire class and the war machine.

Abdul could have gotten on his knees and spent the 4 minutes crying about how the Muslim Brotherhood is evil and he's terribly terribly sorry anyone would ever associate him with it and please try to understand he's not like that…and the results would have been exactly the same.

cell phones aren’t druglike, they’re carlike. even if you consciously want to opt out, you can’t, because everyone expects you to have and use one to interact with society. i cannot even use the laundry machines in my building without being forced to use the laundry app.
Cell phone addiction is an absolute thermonuke to the brain and nobody 'takes it seriously' because it is not clear that there is any solution in a world where the revealed preference of everyone across the globe, regardless of income, race, age, any factor whatsoever, would rather be on their phone than do *anything* else. Deciding "I use this too much" and meaningfully altering one's behaviour doesn't seem to have much success for any of the very small minority of people with the sentience or self-reflection to realize how bad it is. Most people seem to think of it as an unproductive habit at most, rather than an addiction. Any attempt to speak seriously about this is met with derision, accusations of pretentiousness. There is no real solution to it. The future of human cognition fifty years down the line is horrifying if you stop and think about it for even a moment.

This is absolutely true. A sign of bad writing is when it's a different verb every time. By the time it's "she averred," the reader is in trouble.
i had a creative writing professor who gave the opposite advice. the brain eventually stops noticing the repetition of “said” which allows you to easily imagine the conversation. specific verbs can be intrusive and distracting and should only be used when absolutely necessary

He stopped the shooter, but he didn't stop the shooting. That's the difference. Three kids and their teacher were already dead, and an unarmed teacher had tackled him first. YOU spent decades blocking laws that keep guns away from kids. Now you're taking a victory lap? Fuck that.
“The NRA wants you to focus on how this was stopped…” Correct. A heroic armed citizen saved innocent lives. Your failed gun control policies and “Gun-Free Zone” stickers did not.

I'm currently working on an AI that will randomly generate stamps that I can save to my hard drive. Because apparently I am naturally a born stamp collector. I just never had the interest to go collecting them.
