Thank you to @Microsoft + @satyanadella + @BradSmi for the incredible partnership w/ @TRPresLibrary — our nation’s treasure, @DorisKGoodwin was finally about to “talk with TR”!
To coincide with the #A250, Microsoft unveiled an AI experience that lets visitors have a conversation with U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt at the new @TRPresLibrary. And who better to put our avatar to the test than American historian @DorisKGoodwin? The result was a conversation across time. Powered by @Microsoft technology and built on Roosevelt’s writings, speeches, letters, and historical records, this experience shows how technology can make archives more accessible, scholarship more dynamic, and history more engaging for a new generation.

Infrastructure doesn't just move people and goods—it moves a nation forward. George Washington recognized this in 1785 when he gazed out on the Potomac and saw much more than a river. He saw a means to connect a nation. He knew engineering was only half of the challenge. The rest was bringing people together and forging an agreement that would serve the local community. More than two centuries later, as we build the digital infrastructure of our own era, this lesson still holds. aka.ms/America250 #A250 @Microsoft #America250

Still recovering from ‘spectacular’ … @TRPresLibrary
It's a pretty great Thursday when the @nytimes features your avatar and says it "steals the show"

Come talk with TR @TRPresLibrary — now open in @MedoraND !
Pulitzer Prize-winner @DorisKGoodwin spent years studying Theodore Roosevelt. But she never thought she'd actually get to talk to him. We changed that. Here's the moment where Doris talked face-to-face to TR. We're honored to partner with @Microsoft and the @TRPresLibrary to power the AI avatar and bring history into the present. The response to this permanent exhibit has been amazing: - @nytimes ("The A.I. hologram of Roosevelt steals the show") - Good Morning America @gma @eschulze ("It was moving") - @Forbes - @Gizmodo - @CNET and more. In Doris' words after the experience: "[The avatar] showed so much emotion and fire. I felt like it was a real conversation [...] It's what you want history to do - to make young people feel like it’s part of their world." Thank you @BradSmi and Microsoft for including us in this incredible project!

Thank you to Michael Kimmelman, architecture critic for @nytimes, who made the trip out to the North Dakota Badlands to see how the Library settles into the landscape that shaped a young Theodore Roosevelt. He came away calling it spectacular, and he saw exactly what Snøhetta set out to do: a building of mass timber and rammed earth that tucks into a grassy butte until it nearly vanishes among the hills and hoodoos. He clocked the details that matter most out here — prairie grasses grown from local seed through the Native Plant Project, rammed-earth walls striated like the geology just outside the window, a walkable roof and boardwalk built for slowing down and taking in the view. Best of all, he stayed a while. He spotted a pronghorn in the wildflowers, found animal tracks up on the roof, and settled into a rocking chair on the veranda as the Badlands rolled toward the horizon. His verdict on that moment: "It was bliss." That's the invitation. Come see it for yourself. 📍 Medora, North Dakota 🔗 ow.ly/ShYk50Zoy3I #DareGreatly #TR250 #America250

The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is rooted in three core pillars: leadership, citizenship, and conservation. As Chair of the Board of Trustees Hilary Hamm shares, these aren't simply values to celebrate—they're questions that ask something of each of us.

The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is officially open! Now, people from all over the world can come to this exact place, stand where T.R. stood, and feel – not just understand, but feel – how it changed him. That’s what this library makes possible. And North Dakota is genuinely proud to offer it to the world. piped.video/live/ZDixWF-jRjs
