The peer-review process takes time because reviewing a manuscript is an intellectual responsibility, not a routine administrative task. Reviewers are usually established academics with teaching, research, supervision and administrative responsibilities, and peer review is often an unpaid service to the academic community. They must carefully examine a manuscript’s originality, theoretical foundation, methodology, data analysis, findings, scholarly contributions and references. They may also need to verify claims, identify methodological weaknesses and provide detailed recommendations that could require substantial revisions. Furthermore, editors must identify suitable reviewers, wait for their acceptance, manage delayed reports and sometimes seek additional opinions where reviewers disagree. The fact that reviewers are unpaid does not make the responsibility less demanding. Thus, quality assurance, scholarly integrity and the credibility of academic publishing require time, patience and meticulous attention to detail.

Does it take time because no amount was paid and it has to follow due process.

We are gradually approaching the stage where we are metamorphosing into the next generation expected to fix the country. In the next few years, many people—including those we have interacted with here for almost two decades—will become leaders, policymakers and reformers across various niches like government, the private sector, industry and politics. We pray that when the opportunity avails itself, our generation will do better and allow posterity to remember us on the right side of history.
We're beginning to witness young men we started out with on this platform move into positions of leadership and influence. 2031 will be a defining year for many of us, with some becoming national figures even before then, between 2027 and 2031. The message is simple: keep adding value to yourself, build your capacity, cultivate meaningful relationships and position yourself. Your time will come; be ready when it does.

Deng Xiaoping is the architect of modern China. He moved away from Mao’s relatively protectionist/isolationist policies and opened up China to the world. Deng initiated what was known as the Four Modernisations areas, covering science and technology, defence, agriculture and industrialisation, which laid a solid foundation for China’s all-round development in a manner never seen before. He created Special Economic Zones and introduced reforms that positioned China to compete globally. Today, China is the largest exporting nation on earth. It moves at a pace never seen before. This is, of course, after lifting more than 800 million people out of extreme poverty in four decades.

I hve said this deng Xioping is the greatest political figure in the history of the world. What he has done for china will never be replicated again. I agree that chairman mao fought for the chinese independence against imperialism but deng should be up there too with him and sun

A research manuscript can spend almost a year under peer-review and still come back rejected. We have a Q1 paper that was submitted in late 2024. It was accepted early this year after serious reviewer comments that I had never come across, yet it has not been published. Publishing in top journals requires patience and serious dedication. This explains why many run to predatory journals, pay money and get their work published within a month. But if you need quality papers, wide readership and huge visibility, always target top-tier journals.

Let me add this great book by the same author to your collection Sir.
Find a non-obidient human being to read this book and explain it to you. If you are capable of learning, you'd start noticing the weakness of your position from the cover.

One admirable thing about these guys, especially the northern ones, is that they’re very current, widely read, versed, and highly knowledgeable. They can tell you about Saddam, Bush, the Gulf War, the Cold War era, Russia, America, China’s transformation, World War history, the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, UN activities, and Britain’s rise and eventual decline. They can tell you about Mugabe, South Africa’s liberation struggle during the apartheid days, the AU, Sankara, Rawlings, Mugabe, and many others, with copious details. Back home, they can vividly tell you about Sardauna, Balewa, Babangida, Shagari, Buhari’s military era, Abacha, Obasanjo, Murtala, the various coups in Nigeria, the Biafran War, and much more. Through decades of listening to the radio, these people have accumulated an incredible wealth of knowledge, sometimes more than many degree holders. Globally, they can take you through important cities, historical developments and significant events across different parts of the world. Interestingly, most of them may not even have had any formal education.
Facts about these men who always listen to their radio 📻 for informations

I have finally got my answer. You want to hire FRM with a pay of N3m per month and the person must come from the same upstream sector. Crazy! 8yrs experience in O&G upstream for a max pay of N3m? Really? There are 2 options here.... 1 - Either you get a below-average guy who couldn't prepare a good IFRS report Or 2 - You hire good guys outside the industry to do the job. (They will also exit in 2 years time for a better pay) On a side note, I know good indigenous firms doing N1.5m for their GTs talk more of a Manager, lol.
In the last one month, I have seen many vacancies relating to financial reporting and the likes in the O&G. Why is it difficult to close these positions? Do they insist on hiring only from inside the industry? Or the salary they are promising is abysmal? Or this vacancies are just what I think they are? If I spent 12yrs in O&G industry, how much can you reasonable pay me to join your company and what's the stability of the company? Quite curious.....

In that aspect, he really tries. There is no doubt. Unfortunately, leadership has many prisms to measure from. Even though he is a good candidate in his own right, we prefer Mallam 😎
This is one of the many reasons why Dr. Bala Bello is my preferred candidate for Gombe in 2027. He has given so much to the people without ever holding public office. His contributions speak for themselves. He has paid his dues, and he deserves the opportunity to serve.

There was a time in secondary school when we sat for an Olympiad examination at the School for the Gifted in Gwagwalada. A few of us were nominated from my school. Those questions looked as though they had been imported from heaven. When we came out, some of my friends were busy re-solving the questions. Whenever they arrived at an answer and asked for mine, I would insist that I had arrived at the same answer, even though I knew very well that I would fail woefully. In the end, we never knew the results, but I doubt mine was anything to write home about. Perhaps my good friends and competitors fared better, particularly Dr. Zaidat, now in the US; Dr. Ademola, who transitioned from medicine to climate action advocacy and now journalism; and my closest friend and seatmate, Sadiq, who has been in Europe since 2009.

Gombe State Governor recently claimed that @ProfIsaPantami benefited immensely from the APC, first as Director-General of NITDA and later as Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, yet never appeared on any campaign podium or participated in any electioneering process to canvass votes for the party. However, this footage tells a different story. It shows Pantami arriving in Gombe alongside President Tinubu and other APC leaders in 2023. He even mounted the campaign podium and openly urged the people to vote for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and re-elect Governor Inuwa Yahaya

This is below the belt. If you go to Makka more often, at least from what people tell us, you’ll see elderly people doing tawaf and other acts of worship comfortably.
A man who couldn’t even get down from a podium in Kaduna wants to perform Tawaf around the Kaaba. 🤔😩
