The citric acid in a Celsius is grown by a mold, and the taurine was never near a bull.
The list is carbonated water, citric acid, taurine, vegetable juice for color, guarana seed extract, green tea extract, caffeine, ascorbic acid, sucralose, glucuronolactone, ginger root extract and a vitamin pack. Citric acid, second on the list, hasn't come from citrus in a century. It's made by feeding sugar to Aspergillus niger, a black mold, in a tank. Taurine was first pulled out of ox bile in 1827, which is where the bull stories come from, but the taurine in every energy drink is built from ethylene oxide and ammonia. Glucuronolactone is a sugar your own liver makes, produced here from glucose. Sucralose is table sugar with 3 chlorine atoms swapped on so the body can't digest it, about 600 times sweeter than sugar.
The caffeine comes from 3 places. Guarana seeds carry about twice the caffeine of a coffee bean by weight, green tea brings some, and pure caffeine is added on top, which is the only one the label has to call caffeine. Celsius prints the total, 200 mg, which the rule doesn't require. The vitamin pack runs 1000% of your biotin because biotin is cheap and water soluble and the panel looks better for it. The front says kiwi strawberry and the corner says 0% juice.
