Anthropic and Google sell intelligence by the token, and the price keeps falling. The companies reselling it as outcomes still charge the same every month. The best margins in AI aren't at the labs.

OpenAI's problem isn't that GPT-6.1 Sol loses to Opus 5.5. It's that every month without an answer, another company rebuilds its workflows around Claude. Swapping a model takes a day. Swapping a workflow takes a quarter.

One of my Macs ran $10,116 of Opus 5.5 in 7 days, at API prices. A week ago I posted $5,078. Same Mac. What doubled is how much work I stopped doing myself.

Every company is using Claude to send more emails. Every inbox is using Gemini to ignore them.

Try handing one job to an agent. You'll find out your company never had a process. It had Sarah.

Everyone's waiting for Fable 5.5. Last week my main Mac sent 86,352 messages to Opus 5.5 and 378 to Fable 5.1. Benchmarks pick the smartest model. Payroll picks the one you can run all night.

Anthropic: $16.8B in revenue last quarter. OpenAI: a ~$50B run rate, so ~$12.5B a quarter. The lab that sells to companies just passed the lab that sells to everyone. On paper.

One thing that really pisses me off about Anthropic: every other day they change what the default effort level is supposed to be. When Opus 5.5 came out, Medium was the default, and rightly so. Then Medium got lazy and stopped being worth a damn. So little by little I figured out the new default was Extra, with Max for the harder stuff, especially anything visual. And then what happened? They started cutting hard on the 5-hour session limit. I used to forget that limit even existed. Now it runs out in about 3 hours. 2 days ago it was even worse. It keeps swinging back and forth. How is anyone supposed to work like this? Just be transparent. Tell us what the standard is and stick to it. Stop changing it every five seconds. Your users end up recalibrating everything over and over. It's a freaking roller coaster. Enough.

Would you let an agent email your biggest client without checking?

Nobody ever got fired for hiring McKinsey. Someone will get fired for paying McKinsey for what Claude did in an afternoon.

I'm noticing 5-hour session limits on Opus 5.5 becoming way tighter. Anyone else?

A five-person team with agents isn't competing with a 500-person company. It's competing with their procurement department.

Gemini 4 Argon launched at half the price of Opus 5.5. Google's pricing page says that ends December 1. Then it's $4/$20, same as Opus. 48 days is exactly enough time to rebuild your stack on Gemini. That's the point.
