Uganda Coffee: Building Trust, Creating Value and Expanding Markets at the 17th SCTA Forum.
Uganda participated in the 17th Swiss Coffee Trade Association (SCTA) Forum and Dinner, held from 1st–2nd October 2026 in Montreux, Switzerland, marking the country’s inaugural participation and becoming the first African country to participate in the Forum.
Uganda’s participation was coordinated by the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Uganda in Geneva, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), and other key stakeholders.
The Ugandan delegation was led by Hon. Desire Muhooza, Minister of State for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, alongside Maj. Gen. David Kasura-Kyomukama, Permanent Secretary, MAAIF, and Mr. Vincent Bagiire Waiswa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with other delegates and private-sector stakeholders.
A key highlight was the panel discussion, “Brewing Trust: Traceability, Sustainability and Value Addition in Uganda’s Coffee Journey,” featuring Hon. Desire Muhooza and Maj. Gen. David Kasura-Kyomukama (MAAIF), Mr. Joseph Enyimu (MoFPED), and Mr. Jeremy Mpalampa (Volcafe/Kyagalanyi Coffee Ltd.). The discussion was moderated by Ms. Daphine Wabule, Agro-Industrialisation Consultant.
The discussion highlighted Uganda’s progress in coffee traceability, sustainability, quality and value addition, as well as opportunities for investment and stronger partnerships across the coffee value chain.
Uganda also hosted an exhibition booth, where participants sampled Ugandan coffee and experienced the quality and diversity of the country’s coffee offering, including Fine Robusta and specialty Arabicas.
The engagement forms part of Uganda’s Economic and Commercial Diplomacy agenda, promoting Ugandan products, expanding market access and strengthening international partnerships.
Uganda’s participation provided a strategic platform to showcase the country’s coffee potential, engage directly with global coffee traders and investors, build new partnerships and explore opportunities to expand market access for Ugandan coffee in Switzerland and beyond.
