This Fall, we partnered with @CCPedu to lead a free, six-week certificate program, Community Journalism as a Civic Power. We just compiled all of the exercises and materials we used in the workshop series for anyone to use and adapt here: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

Great to see our systems thinking tools getting put to work, in this case with El Tímpano around overcrowded housing and health in Oakland’s Latino and Mayan immigrant communities : medium.com/el-t%C3%ADmpano/f… go @colegoins @madbair

Kudos to my colleague @allisonlichter for addressing the insanity that is motherhood in the U. S. with her newsletter The Matriarchy Report. One month into motherhood, I also could not stop thinking "How has the species survived?" matriarchyreport.substack.co…

This captures what's irked me about yesterday's coverage. The "coup" has actually been a slow burn - funded for decades by Koch, etc., spread by Fox, etc. I worry the drama of yesterday will take our focus off how we actually got here and how deep the real threats are
Agree. Behind the unwashed mobs are elites who have exploited resentment, racism and misery to plunder the country. Look at the profiteers: Koch, Fox, Blackstone etc etc.

Thank you! McConnell’s belated discovery of his conscience yesterday illustrated so clearly how much of a difference he could have made if he had stood up to Trump rather than cutting craven deals for the last 4 years.
On Dec. 15th, we're hosting a systems-thinking training for journalists everywhere. Sign up! newschool.zoom.us/meeting/re…

Excellent thread. Often struck by lack of attention, in general, paid to Sinclair

This thread nitter.siddz.com/jeffjarvis/status/1313… from @jeffjarvis got me thinking - O! the irony that the attention economy was invented by news biz! Rise of penny press - in 1830s. Big idea: charge less, get more readers, then get rich selling their attention to advertisers...
Ad executive I used to respect just blocked me after I criticized him for wanting to block the voices on social media. These are the people who decide what media and what voices in social media get their support and do not. Looking for people who are too powefful? Start there.
