She even admitted that austerity was a failed programme, but recently tried to caveat her confession. If we're going to be honest, her decisions lead to avoidable deaths. Some would call that murder.

Why? You were very worried about inflation last month and signalled that you keep hike? What did change? Is the war on Iran over? Have inflation expectations fallen? No. Be honest and confess: You didn't hike rates because big high-tech corporates are in trouble.
We kept our key interest rates at their current levels. Read today’s monetary policy decisions ecb.europa.eu/press/pr/date/…

This is why it’s so important to challenge the notion that the government “borrows” from the private sector. It paralyses everything, dresses itself up in “mundane common sense” but its one of the most damaging misunderstanding a politician can have.
“What I find very difficult… is the assumption you have to cut your way to be being fiscally responsible” “There’s not a hope in hell that [Labour] are going to oversee any cuts to public spending” Economics professor Mariana Mazzucato and Conservative MP Julia Lopez debate Chancellor John Healey’s spending plans. #Newsnight

You served the interests of big financial institutions and big corporates. Although you confessed that post-pandemic inflation was profit-driven, you hiked rates again in 2026. You have ruined the European economy.
I have just informed my colleagues that I will step down as @ECB President on 7 February 2027. It has been a source of great pride to serve this institution. I thank all of those who have supported me on this journey over the past seven years.

Here you go: the government’s wholly owned (not shilly independent) Bank of England sets rates and can support its policy rate snd discipline markets as it sees fit. Markets are not in charge. Government is.

Robin doesn't know what TARGET2 balances are. They are just a record of all the bank transfers from one country to another processed through the @ecb. They are thus payments, often for exports from the country receiving the payment.
There's a fantasy in Italy and Spain that Germany's TARGET2 claims aren't real. They're very real. They're subsidized loans from Germany that finance a standard of living in Italy and Spain that's artificially and unsustainably high. The AfD will end this. robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

Neden?

-There is no such thing as equilibrium, as demand and supply are never equal since goods are produced before, and more than, demanded -Unemployment is a political decision -Nominal wages are downward rigid because workers have debts to pay and care about relative wages
I agree. But Keynes’ GT is intellectually incoherent when viewed through the lens of General Equilibrium theory … it has no intelligible answer to the question: When faced with persistent unemployment why don’t firms offer lower wages and why don’t unemployed workers accept those offers? When the N. American Keynesians ... based in Cambridge Massachusetts … accepted Friedman’s argument that high unemployment is caused by a temporary deviation of wages and prices from their equilibrium levels … they gave up the Keynesian Baby with the Monetarist Bathwater. The Cambridge England Keynesians resisted but they did not have a coherent explanation for the persistence of long-term unemployment as an equilibrium phenomenon that could answer the questions of the General Equilibrium theorists. My entire body of work has been devoted to providing an answer to the question: How can high unemployment persist? that reconciles General Equilibrium Theory with the Keynesian proposition that Walrasian Equilibrium is one of many potential resting points of a dynamical system. The answer is what I call Keynesian Search Theory. static1.squarespace.com/stat…
