Heard of the DROPBXO several times from past coworkers and they made it sound like they were manually reassembling some especially badly corrupted files, not sure if that's exactly what happened. Wish they posted a public postmortem at the time, sounds like a great learning opp
Fun trivia: Dropbox named outages with adjective-animal combinations. Hairy chihuahua, that sort of thing. But the really serious ones got cute custom names and, eventually, laptop stickers. DROPBXO was the one where a race condition in the concurrency library reordered file blocks and delivered corrupted files to clients. Hundreds of people across dozens of teams chipped in to diagnose and repair that one. You always pull together as a team and bond over the worst ones... There are a lot of people out there who see "DROPBXO" now, and both shudder and smile.

Excited to see Figma roll out the WebGPU version. It was actually working internally for years, but my understanding is that older laptops and browsers were not compatible.
we just upgraded Figma’s renderer to WebGPU ⚡️ WebGPU unlocks new rendering techniques and optimizations that will make Figma faster and enable us to ship richer visuals and smoother interactions. so proud of the team for making it happen! 👏 see how we did it 👉 figma.com/blog/figma-renderi…

$73M ARR before Windsurf, at $20M total burn
Replying to @cognition
Today, the baseline has changed drastically. While we are still in the earliest innings of AI code, agents are already doing real work alongside individual developers and within large enterprise engineering teams. As with many technologies throughout history, what first seemed a fringe theory quickly became an obvious reality. Over the past year, we have observed this shift, first with Devin and now with Windsurf. Before acquiring Windsurf, Cognition’s Devin ARR grew from $1M ARR in September 2024 to $73M ARR in June 2025, as usage increased exponentially. Our growth remained efficient throughout, with total net burn under $20M across the company's entire history.

We’ve raised over $400M at a $10.2B post-money valuation to advance the frontier of AI coding agents. The round was led by Founders Fund with other existing investors including Lux, 8VC, Neo, Elad Gil, Definition Capital, and Swish VC all doubling down. We’re also joined by new investors including Bain Capital Ventures and D1 Capital. Two of our early investors, Christian Lawless of Conversion Capital and Emily Cohen of Neo, have even joined our team full-time.

Cognition is the first AI lab to win a verified gold medal at the IOI. Our human, ryanbAI (@ryanbai), placed 7th overall. Impressively, ryanbAI competed under the exact same conditions as all human contestants.

Launching Operator Tasks today. Tasks are a new primitive that turns every finished call into a fully programmable workflow. In phone ops most of the work happens after the call ends: update the TMS, tag the CRM, ping the warehouse, chase follow-ups, loop in three more people, hope nothing falls through the cracks. Tasks transform post-call chaos into a clean, programmable workflow. What Tasks can already do: - Multi-party dispatch: One status change rings driver, warehouse, consignee, backup, customer—everyone aligned in seconds. - Real-time compliance: Every transcript scanned on hang-up; exceptions land on Legal’s desk automatically. - System sync: CRM, TMS, WMS, EHR—updated before the next call rings. - Instant follow-ups: Quote emailed, payment link texted, Salesforce logged—all while the line is still warm. Excited to see what else our customers will use it for!

Figma's ARR is about to moon 🌕: → Launch trendy design features (textures, variable strokes, progressive blur ✨) → Casually suggest Dev Mode ($12/mo) because nobody wants a weekend lost to SVG sorcery and CSS witchcraft. Well played, tendies incoming

Usually you do not see the old-timer engineers present at Config's main stage - it's usually the product leads and designers. But this year @lbudorick, one of the longest standing Figma core engineers presented a whole bunch of features made by her team 🎉

OMG they released Pattern-fill. Having flashbacks to debugging performance of giant customer files and seeing bajillion dots on the background killing the performance.
