Ogun Govt Suspends King Akinyemi Over Partisan Politics, Orders Him To Vacate Palace And Stop Wearing Crown The Ogun State Government has suspended the Eselu of Iselu Kingdom, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, pending an investigation into allegations of partisan political activities. Governor Dapo Abiodun’s media aide, Kayode Akinmade, said in a statement on Tuesday that the State Executive Council approved the suspension under Section 52(1) of the Ogun State Obas and Chiefs Law, 2021. Akinmade said the decision was conveyed in a letter dated October 20, 2026, signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat. He said, “According to the letter, the council acted following several complaints concerning the traditional ruler’s conduct, particularly his alleged involvement in overtly partisan political activities, some of which were reportedly publicised by him. “The government noted that partisan politics was contrary to customary law and prohibited by statute, warning that such conduct could undermine the dignity of the traditional institution and threaten peaceful coexistence among subjects with different political affiliations.” Akinmade said the suspension was in the interest of peace, order and good governance, particularly in Iselu Kingdom. The letter to the monarch partly read, “Consequently, during the suspension period, you must: vacate and stay away from the palace of Eselu; You must not parade yourself or acknowledge any recognition as Eselu of Iselu Kingdom; You must not wear or use any crown (beaded or not), Ileke, beaded staff, Irukere, and any other paraphernalia of an Oba; and “Present yourself promptly to any meeting or sitting convened by the state government to investigate the allegations against you. Please be guided accordingly.” The letter was also sent to the Secretary of Yewa North Local Government and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, for necessary action.

Nigerian Businessman Arrested Over Alleged $120m Fr@ud Against Ukrainian Investor. Investigators Probe Billions Of Naira In Transfers To His Children The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Abuja-based businessman Innocent Ozoemena Ezuma, 57, over allegations that he defr@uded a Ukrainian investor of more than $120 million in a scheme spanning nearly two decades. An EFCC official confirmed his arrest in Abuja on Monday to SaharaReporters, saying he was being investigated for alleged advance fee fr@ud, cr+minal breach of trust, money la¥ndering and other offences. Investigators allege that Ezuma collected millions of dollars between 2007 and 2015 under the guise of financing mineral exploration and power projects that were never delivered. The probe reportedly uncovered suspicious transfers involving companies and relatives linked to him. Battregen Limited, allegedly controlled by his 28-year-old son, Bogdan Ekene Ezuma, reportedly received N1.365 billion in purported loans between February and April 2025 despite recording no revenue during the period. Another N953 million was allegedly transferred to his son in July 2025, with only N90 million returned. Investigators also identified transfers of between N48 million and N50 million to his 26-year-old daughter, Bozhena Ezuma, and other associates. The EFCC reportedly suspects that some transactions were used to move proceeds of the alleged fr@ud, although legitimate business purposes for some transfers had yet to be established. The investigation also concerns alleged dealings involving Russian state-owned energy company Inter RAO UES and the privatisation of the Jos Steel Rolling Mill in Plateau State. Ezuma allegedly took control of the facility, stripped it of assets and left hundreds of workers without wages. Investigators further allege that he shot and seriously wounded a business partner in Ukraine in 2008 before fleeing to Nigeria. He reportedly remains in the country despite an Interpol red notice. The EFCC is expanding its investigation and has appealed for information from the public and the businessman’s former associates.

Our Nigeria is already a failed state. The middle class has totally disappeared —Presidential aspirant, Donald Duke PRP presidential candidate Donald Duke has warned that Nigeria is showing signs of a failed state, citing insecurity, poverty, unemployment and a shrinking middle class as reasons for contesting the 2027 election. Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Duke said he could no longer watch the country’s challenges worsen without taking action. “You get to a point in your life where you say, ‘Either I walk away, or I do something.’ “There is no guarantee that you will win. But I don’t want to look back and say that all these things happened and I did nothing,” he said. “I talk about the urgency of now because I don’t think we can go on like this for another four years,” he added. Duke cited banditry, terrorism and kidnapping as signs of worsening insecurity. “If we don’t address these issues squarely and fundamentally, we’re already a failed state. There’s no question about it,” he said. The former Cross River governor also lamented the shrinking middle class, saying businesses were contracting while new ones were not emerging fast enough to create jobs for the growing number of graduates. “Businesses are contracting. New ones are not springing up the way they should. At the same time, we are turning out graduates every year and adding more people to the working population, but there is no work for them to do,” he stated. Duke argued that tackling poverty and unemployment was essential to addressing insecurity, adding that governance should prevent crises rather than merely react to them. He said his ambition was driven by his belief in Nigeria’s potential. “I believe in this country’s possibilities, and this is where I believe I should contribute,” he said.

Fake Ballots Could Be Accepted Under Section 63(2) Of Electoral Act — Rep. Abdussamad Dasuki Raises Concerns Over Credibility Of 2027 Elections, Seeks INEC Chairman’s Briefing Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, a lawmaker representing Sokoto State, has raised concerns over Section 63(2) of the Electoral Act, warning that it could undermine the credibility of the 2027 elections. Speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives, Dasuki argued that the provision allows presiding officers to accept ballot papers without INEC’s official marks or security features, raising concerns about fake ballots being counted. “Section 63 subsection 2, Mr. Speaker, gave a polling unit officer or presiding officer the opportunity to accept any paper that is not having the marks or any security feature of INEC,” he said. Comparing the situation to counterfeit currency, he added: “It’s just like you saying go to the bank, collect money — if you Have fake money inside the bank, for as long as it’s in the bundle, that means it’s accepted.” Dasuki said he and the House Whip had submitted a bill to address the issue. He also called for the INEC chairman to brief lawmakers on the commission’s preparedness for the 2027 elections. “We don’t want to wait till on the eve of election before we know what INEC is going to do, and we are the only ones empowered in the constitution to ask INEC how ready they are,” he stated. He also expressed concern over security challenges and INEC’s funding, urging the House to debate the bill and motion before the elections. Responding, the Speaker promised to review the matter and try to accommodate the motion within the week. “I have heard what you have said, I will look at your issue, and we will try as much as possible within the week to accommodate the motion that you already brought before the parliament in July,” the Speaker said.

Just In: Imported Ebola Case confirmed In Abuja, 44 Contacts identified As Patient Remains In Isolation The Federal Government has confirmed an imported case of Ebola virus disease in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with health authorities identifying 44 contacts and commencing surveillance to prevent further transmission. The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Pate, disclosed this at a media briefing in Abuja on Tuesday following laboratory confirmation of the infection. The patient, a woman who recently travelled to Uganda, reportedly returned to Nigeria with symptoms on September 7. Her condition worsened four days later, prompting further medical attention and testing. She was admitted to a private hospital before the diagnosis was established. “She is currently in isolation and receiving medical care,” the government statement said. Pate said contact tracing had commenced, with 44 people identified for follow-up, while surveillance was being strengthened at Nigeria’s entry points to detect potential spread. The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the FCT Health Secretariat, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and other partners are coordinating the response. The minister urged healthcare facilities to remain vigilant, particularly when treating patients with possible Ebola symptoms and relevant travel histories. He also appealed to Nigerians to remain calm, practise good hygiene and cooperate with public health officials. Symptoms requiring attention include fever, weakness, headache and diarrhoea, although these may also occur in other illnesses. According to Channels Television, Pate assured Nigerians that the situation was being managed and promised timely, transparent updates. He said Nigeria was drawing on its experience in containing the 2014 Ebola outbreak and its public health systems to strengthen preparedness and response.

Visa-Free Access Falls From 44 Destinations To 24 Nigeria’s passport has reportedly dropped to 181st out of 196 countries in the latest IziVisa Passport Ranking Index, down from 90th position in July 2026. According to data published on IziVisa.com, Nigerians can travel to 24 countries visa-free, obtain visas on arrival in 16 countries and access 43 countries through electronic visas. The report highlights a decline in Nigeria’s visa-free score from 44 destinations in July to 24 in the latest IziVisa ranking. IziVisa explained that passports are ranked according to the number of destinations their holders can access without obtaining a visa beforehand, including visa-free entry, visas on arrival and electronic visas. The United Arab Emirates leads the 2026 ranking, with access to 185 of 198 destinations through the three travel categories, while Switzerland occupies second position. Luxembourg, Malta, Denmark, Spain and Finland also feature prominently. Separately, the July 2026 Henley Passport Index placed Nigeria 90th out of 199 passports, with visa-free access to 44 destinations. The index, published by Henley & Partners, assesses passports against 227 travel destinations using data from the International Air Transport Association. Among African countries, South Africa ranked 49th globally, with access to 101 destinations, followed by Botswana in 61st position with 81 destinations. Morocco ranked 67th with 71 destinations, while Kenya placed 68th with 70. Ghana ranked 70th, with access to 67 destinations, while Nigeria shared its position with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Turkmenistan in the Henley ranking. However, the IziVisa and Henley indices use different methodologies and coverage, meaning their rankings are not directly comparable.

If I Wasn’t A Boxer, I Would Be A Christian P%rn Star — Undefeated Boxing Champion Claressa Shields Undefeated boxing champion Claressa Shields has sparked reactions after revealing that she would consider becoming a “Christian p%rn star” if she were not a professional boxer, with one condition attached. Shields made the surprising remark during a livestream with content creator Zoe Spencer, when she was asked what she would do if she were not involved in boxing. Responding to the question, the boxing champion said: “I would be like a Christian p%rn star.” When the interviewer reacted with surprise, Shields stood by her statement, with the conversation clarifying that she meant appearing in films exclusively with her husband. “You know on film but only with your husband,” she said. Shields then mentioned other careers she could pursue outside boxing, adding: “But besides that, I’ll be like a singer. I’ll play basketball.” The clip, shared by Art of Dialogue on X and subsequently circulated on social media, has attracted attention because of the champion’s unexpected response and her condition that such films would only involve her husband.
