In memory of Prof. Andrzej M. Brandt - scientific session
On October 7–9 in Cedzyna, the 24th Scientific and Technical Conference KONTRA 2026 "Durability of Structures and Corrosion Protection" took place, gathering over 150 participants.
A special event was the scientific session "Dispersed reinforcement - microstructure - durability", dedicated to the memory of Prof. Andrzej Marek Brandt, PhD, DSc, Eng. (1930–2025) - a long-time scientific worker of IPPT PAN, an outstanding specialist in the field of material mechanics and concrete technology, and a Master of the Institute.
The session was an opportunity to recall the Professor's achievements and His contribution to the development of research on fiber-reinforced concrete, structural optimization, and the durability of building materials. Memories were accompanied by presentations of contemporary research results referring to the scientific directions developed by Him.
The session was opened by Prof. Michał A. Glinicki, presenting the Professor as an ambassador of Polish science and the creator of a scientific school for designing brittle matrix composites. Prof. Maria Kaszyńska, Chair of the Committee of Civil and Water Management of the Polish Academy of Sciences, recalled His merits for Polish civil engineering.
Four representatives of IPPT PAN participated in the conference: Prof. Michał A. Glinicki, Assoc. Prof. Daria Jóźwiak-Niedźwiedzka, Dr. Paweł Lisowski, and MSc. Dominik Nowicki, presenting research results on structures in nuclear power plants, the durability of cementitious materials, and the use of recycled materials.
The achievements of Prof. Andrzej M. Brandt continue to inspire scientists, and the ideas He developed are reflected in modern research.
