โ€œLearn fast, learn frequently.โ€ ๐Ÿ’ก You've probably heard โ€œfail faster, succeed sooner.โ€ Don Norman prefers a different framing. To him, โ€œfailureโ€ is too negative a word for what a design that doesn't work as intended really gives you: learning. ๐Ÿง  That small change in language changes how a team works. A test that goes wrong becomes useful information, people share what didn't work earlier, and learning becomes something you do often, not once after launch. So the next time a prototype doesn't land, try asking โ€œWhat did this teach us?โ€ before asking โ€œWhat went wrong?โ€ ๐Ÿ‘‰ Read the full article: ixdf.pulse.ly/6rh8bsc6fi What's the most useful thing a design that โ€œdidn't workโ€ ever taught you? You can almost hear the assumptions behind those requirements. ๐Ÿซ  When user research gets skipped, teams risk building products around what they think people need rather than what people actually need. Those assumptions can influence everything that follows: features, user flows, interactions, and even which problems the product aims to solve. That's why good design starts with understanding people. Research helps you question assumptions, identify real needs, and make informed decisions before they become expensive to change. The earlier you understand your users, the better your chances of designing products that solve real problems and meet real human needs. ๐Ÿ’™ #uxmeme #uxdesign

Your feature list keeps growing. But which features do your users actually need? ๐Ÿค” Stakeholders have priorities, teams have opinions, and every idea can sound like a must-have. As William Hudson reminds us, you can't design for everyone all the time. A persona-weighted feature matrix helps you prioritize features based on: ๐Ÿ‘ฅ How important each persona is to your product's success. ๐ŸŽฏ How useful each feature is to that persona. ๐Ÿ’ก The better you understand your users, the easier it becomes to decide what matters most. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Learn how to prioritize features based on user needs with William Hudson in our Object-Oriented UI Design: Build Interfaces Users Love course: ixdf.pulse.ly/sfsgdyf5yc #UXDesign #UserCenteredDesign #Personas #ProductDesign #UIDesign

What happens when color is the only signal telling your users what matters? ๐ŸŽจ For people with color vision deficiency, important information can be difficult to distinguish or even missed entirely. Take this weather map. With red-green color blindness, colors that signal storm activity can become harder to tell apart. And here's why it matters: approximately 8% of men and 0.5% of women have some form of color blindness. ๐Ÿ’ก Good design communicates beyond color. Add labels, icons, and patterns so more people can understand what they see. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Learn how to create more accessible digital experiences with Frank Spillers in our Accessibility in Practice course: ixdf.pulse.ly/7cqdogpl5j #Accessibility #InclusiveDesign #UXDesign #AccessibleDesign #DesignForPeople

One last birthday thought. ๐ŸŽ‚ AI can do amazing things. But what happens when it can't understand your frustration, solve your problem or connect you with a real person when you need help?
