To keep, or to seal, that is the question. Over the past two days, I burned 400 Credits and carefully composed these five Statements.

Most wallets tell you what you own. Jack Butcher’s balance tells the story of what you’ve owned, received, and passed on. Even when the balance hits zero, the artwork remains. Provenance becomes the art.
balance is an artwork with liquid provenance. credits are individual works made from cyan, magenta, yellow and black. each has a rating. 80 credits are burned to compose a statement. the collector chooses the arrangement. the ratings are added together. a statement can be permanently locked to release its rating as transferable balance. each wallet has an artwork displaying its balance and inherited colors. as tokens move, color moves with them. as balances meet, colors mix. empty the wallet and the artwork remains. this video follows 10,000 balance through six wallets. the total stays the same. its distribution and appearance change. chance. choice. consequence. an expanding surface. a finite supply.

the initial supply of balance will be auctioned via a uniswap cca on 10/20 at 10:20 EST (cca.uniswap.org/) I bought back 1% of max possible supply of balance on the open market and will make $0 from the sale, all funds will be used to provide liquidity to the artwork

the bigger idea here is that there is far more to visualize than just the present balance the metadata (presently wip) will catalog the behavior around the artwork at an extremely granular level, forever
