Today, we're publishing two new findings from inside Anthropic: how work and hiring are changing at a company at the frontier of AI adoption, and how Anthropic staff expect AI to change the economy. anthropic.com/research/expec…

You asked, we delivered. The @JoinFAI Field Guide to the Tribes of Silicon Valley is live now. 27 tribes, a few easter eggs, and a 3-minute quiz (just for fun). tribes.thefai.org

We’re disclosing HEIF Heist, a months-long investigation into libheif that allowed us to hack OpenAI, Slack, Meta, GitHub Ent, Rails, Next.js, ImageMagick, and many more. It was literally xkcd #234, one obscure image library beneath a huge number of apps. 🧵

They used Opus 5 to pull off the hack. It appears they had access to the loosened cyber-guardrail version of Opus. They successfully accessed the OAI internal monorepo. The question that will be asked is, if these three guys can pull this off, what can a nation state do.

My boyfriend and I got on the Jumbotron last night at the US Open and he wanted the footage. I told him impossible but I’ll ask Instinct bc why not. And of course, Instinct got us the video in 18 hours. Here's what it did (1/5)

got sent a cake today and @hu_yifei parsed it with r-1 thanks @speakeasydev!
Today we’re announcing r-1, our new document parsing model. It’s more accurate than our most powerful agentic OCR models, faster, and up to 6x cheaper. At @reductoai, we spent two years building specialized models for complex visual layouts, tables spanning multiple pages, and key formatting like strikethroughs. We then used everything we learned to build r-1, the first in a new generation of models designed to handle the hardest documents without multiplying cost. This early preview delivers a 20% lower error rate than our most accurate legacy agentic models and will keep improving with new checkpoints over the next few weeks. Accuracy is only the beginning. r-1 preview is available at 1¢ per page all-in, with additional volume discounts as you scale. In the near term we’re also going to release r-1 mini, and an auto mode that intelligently selects the right approach for each page. If you’re currently using another parser, we’re offering up to $5,000 in credits to evaluate and migrate. You can claim the migration offer and learn more about r-1 using the links in the comments. Happy parsing!
