Wanted to have some fun with a bunch of my favorite Salary Cap Cultists today…. And since they get so unhinged at the mention of the name of Scott Boras I thought I’d give them a little nudge with this truth bomb from everyone’s favorite baseball agent! Scott Boras telling the truth… Even if some of you can’t handle the truth

The idea that only high-payroll teams can succeed is pure cope. Rays: Playoffs in 10 seasons since 2008. 3 AL pennants. Consistently near the bottom in payroll.
Guardians: Multiple AL Central titles and deep October runs on a development model.
Brewers: 8 of the last 9 seasons in the playoffs. Just won the World Series ranking 19th in payroll. This isn’t a fluke. It’s what happens when you actually develop players and run a smart organization. A salary cap doesn’t fix bad ownership. It just freezes the current hierarchy. Thats bad news for Reds fans and Marlins fans and Pirates fans with or without a salary cap

What is wrong with these idiots!?
At a 12U girls’ softball game in Sugar Land, Texas, parents asked Kiarious Marshun Hall to stop screaming during pitches. He refused. Moments later he swung a heavy metal water bottle into a father’s face, knocking him unconscious. The man remains hospitalized at St. Luke’s with a fractured skull, shattered cheekbone and jaw, three brain bleeds, and a blood clot. When elderly grandfather Gary Greaser stepped in, Hall and his wife Jazmine attacked him too—Greaser suffered a broken hip and needed seven stitches. Jazmine Hall, an assistant principal at Lamar Junior High, resigned after her arrest. Hall was booked on misdemeanor assault; the Fort Bend County DA is reviewing hospital records to upgrade it to felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Multiple video angles contradict his self-defense claim.

Totally incorrect
The MLBPA has a responsibility to ALL of its athletes. Not just the top 1% of players that sign mega contracts like Bryce Harper. A cap/floor system helps the average MLB player. All this posturing does is halt progress for the sake of a system where the rich can always get richer.

Salary cap to “help the bottom teams”? The Rays and Brewers just played in the World Series with two of the lowest payrolls in baseball. Meanwhile the NFL has had a hard cap for decades and still has the same handful of teams stuck at the bottom year after year. It’s not the lack of a cap. It’s ownership, scouting, development, and decision-making.

The Miami Dolphins The Los Angeles Chargers The Minnesota Vikings The Atlanta Falcons The New York Jets These are the five lowest-spending teams in a hard-capped league. Four of them have never won a Super Bowl, and the fifth last did it over 50 years ago. The salary cap has been in place for decades and has not elevated these bottom-payroll clubs to consistent contention. If only the @nfl had a salary cap!

As a @rangers fan I’ll be honest…. I love this!!!! What ever is wrong up in Seattle…. It’s definitely in that front office!
Morning baseball fans, The Seattle Mariners have hired Jason Kanzler, a guy who has NEVER managed a professional baseball game at any level. Not Rookie ball, not A-ball, not Double-A, not Triple-A. NOTHING! And I’ll tell you exactly why I believe Jerry Dipoto hired him. CONTROL! The lineup, starting rotation, bullpen usage, pitch counts, everything will be dictated from the front-office suite. The manager will be given his marching orders, including how many pitches a starter can throw and how much flexibility he has. Kanzler gets a nice big-league paycheck to say YES to Jerry Dipoto. That’s what this looks like to me. A yes man who will bend over backward to keep the boss happy. And the saddest part? This is what Major League Baseball has become. Managers aren’t being hired to manage. They’re being hired to carry out organizational orders. So sad to see what we’ve done to this great game. #SheGone03 #TheHugeShow

This gets me excited as a @rangers fan!
The Texas Rangers recently met with 18-year-old Japanese phenom Shoki Oda. According to sources, the Rangers had an eight-person team at the meeting, were extremely well-prepared, and left a great impression on Oda. Director of International Scouting Jonny Clum, Assistant GM Josh Boyd, and Rangers Korean prospect Seong-Jun Kim, who was signed by Clum, were among those in attendance.

I get this a lot too! If it was true that the majority of players would get paid more with a cap…. Why would they be fighting so hard against that? Does that make sense to anyone?
Just spreading completely false information. The majority of players will be getting paid far more with a cap in place.

Do people believe that TV viewership for baseball is down? It’s not I’ve seen this in my replies a lot The facts are clear… Viewership is up for baseball! A simple search question shows this very clearly Regular-season national ratings are clearly up, helped by the new broadcast partners and stronger exposure. Postseason viewership is down year-over-year (driven by the small-market World Series, fewer long/high-stakes series, and some scheduling factors) but remains healthy relative to recent non-peak years and exceeded low expectations for the Fall Classic. Attendance was also up slightly for a fourth straight season.
Replying to @jeffbatesx
It doesn’t matter if parity is true or not, or if teams were just smarter,... if 1/2 the country isn’t tuning in because the Dodgers outspend their team 4-1… Then, no TV deal, (or a much much much smaller one) No tv deal, no $ for anybody

The @mlb teams that almost never try, the Pirates, Marlins, Athletics, are the ones that give the Salary Cap narrative oxygen. Heck, the A’s Guy, John Fisher, was given Las Vegas for being cheap! Revenue sharing often gets pocketed instead of spent. That’s ownership choice, not structural impossibility

Most fans want an MLB salary cap for two reasons: they’re jealous of what players make, and they’re mad their local owners (Pirates, Marlins, A’s) refuse to try. That’s emotion, not math. Payroll explains roughly a third of wins. The other two-thirds is development, scouting, and competent management. The Rays and Brewers just proved it again. MLB has as many different champions as the “parity” leagues that already have caps. A hard cap mostly protects owners profits and franchise values while giving cheap owners a permanent excuse. Your team isn’t losing because Ohtani exists. It’s losing because the people who own it chose not to compete. Share if you agree Emote below if you don’t

Fan polls show strong fan support for a cap-and-floor, and the league has leaned hard into the imbalance story. Huge mega-contracts + your team tanking is an emotional cocktail. The factual case that MLB has a uniquely broken competitive-balance problem, worse than capped sports, just does not hold up. Sorry Facts over emotion Not really sorry

The @mlb owners real incentive for a cap is cost certainty. A hard cap + floor locks in lower player costs relative to revenue, boosts franchise values, and gives them an easy public excuse. The “level playing field” language is the marketing. And too fans are falling for it
