I’m standing in an hour long line, past early voting poll closing, at one of the biggest polling sites in one of the biggest red counties in the biggest red state, Texas. And to quote the sparkly-hat-wearing Republican Women’s volunteer lead next to the line, “these folks are all Democrats.” Well, she knew except for me, and that’s why she told me that. But judging by how the Democratic candidates working the parking lot and line were received, she’s pretty much right. Democrats are turning out to vote in enormous numbers. To put it mildly: if Texas Republicans don’t show up Tuesday, this is going to be a really, really rough election.

Packing the Supreme Court would be a colossally destructive move, but this is what happens when we shift towards “direct democracy.” Direct election of senators was an end to true federalism, too. Who’s talking about that? Franklin said we are a republic, if we can keep it.

The forgotten Orthodox Christians of the Middle East face constant persecution, but for 2,000 years, have kept the Faith intact, with many martyrs. On Friday, at least seven more earned their crowns in a Jordanian church attacked by evil. May their memories be eternal. ☦️

NVIDIA built a surgical simulator where you move the instruments and AI generates what happens next. Cosmos3-H-Dreams learns from real gallbladder surgery recordings paired with robot motion data. Start with the same image, change the tool movements, and it generates different continuations of the scene. It runs interactively on a single RTX PRO 6000 GPU, with two-step and four-step models offering a tradeoff between speed and visual quality. Still a research simulator, with clinical accuracy requiring validation. But the demo is impressive: a generated scene that responds to your actions as you move.

Striving to lead a life that you, yourself, find interesting is a surprisingly great way to end up achieving your dreams If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice (Rush)
Elon Musk in his latest interview on the possibility that we live in a simulation. “If simulation theory is correct, then any simulations that are boring will be truncated. The fact that we exist means that we are an interesting simulation. And really the most important thing is just don't be boring. You know, I once had a dinner at my house with a physicist and a computer scientist, and they're both like leaders in their field. And I asked the question, what do you think the probability is that we're in a simulation? And the physicist said 0%, and the computer scientist said 100% simultaneously. So I guess maybe I should go 40% then. I don't know. I mean, there's odd things that happen in the simulation, especially if you're me. I mean, think about it. Like if you're me and you're like, should all these things really be happening? Should I really be making spaceships to go to the moon and Mars? Like, what the? That doesn't seem real.”

Spoke about this to folks during the AI Engineer conference in SF. It is likely that there will be many more such regulations.
The Department of Homeland Security is requiring all civilian federal agencies to remove DeepSeek products and 'any third-party services developed using DeepSeek implementations,' and to stop buying them.
