👋 We get you a lower electricity rate.

In the past few weeks, three states moved on electricity costs: IL: a public list of every bill charge beyond supply & delivery — what it funds, who keeps it — by 2027. PA: data centers must report real power use or pay $10K/day. NJ: cut a utility transmission bonus, put data centers in their own rate class to cover their costs. It's almost like people want to see what they're paying for.

"Close the blinds." "Run the dishwasher at night." The standard advice for the coming heat wave. All of it lowers how much you use. None of it touches the rate you're charged per kWh. In a lot of states you can change that part too. Funny how that never comes up.

Public blame toward data centers for rising electricity bills nearly doubled in nine months — 28% to more than half of Americans (Heatmap/Embold poll).

The PJM market is where the pressure hits hardest — and it covers deregulated states where customers can do something about the supply side of their bill: Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, Delaware. That's the gap Arbor sits in. heatmap.news/energy/data-cen…

New Pew data: 75% of Americans say their home energy costs are up — 82% in the Northeast. Who do they blame? Utility profits (64%) and data centers (43%). Almost no one (13%) points to their own usage. People are looking at the system, not their thermostat.

📈 The consumer narrative around rising electricity bills is catching up to the data. @YahooFinance and @GOBankingRates just covered the survey we released last month. Most Americans now believe AI and data-center growth are driving up their utility bills. 👇

A few reasons this matters: 📍 Public perception is starting to align with the structural realities we’ve been tracking across markets. 📍 Rising default supply rates are no longer seen as abstract. Consumers are starting to understand.

If supported in your state i highly recommend @joinarbor they automatically handle switching your electric provider to the cheapest available option and when your term is almost up, searches for a new rate so you don’t get stuck on a variable nightmare rate. They just switched me to a new provider before my term was up and I didn’t have to do a thing. No forms, no calls, no searching. Ez
