Trump administration backs sell off Alaskan natural gas development to a sanctioned Russian company. Given this admin’s history of corruption, we should assume some officials knew abt Russian involvement that endangers US econ and security. nytimes.com/2026/10/23/us/po…

If you’re BAAJA pilled, you should be Fix our Forests Act pilled
So far this year, 66,000 wildfires have burned more than 9 million acres across America — thousands of those acres in San Diego alone. The time to act is now; My Fix Our Forests Act has support from Republicans and Democrats, both in the House and Senate, and it’s time we pass it into law. (1/2)

President Trump and Elon Musk have slowed down the critical Starlink satellite connection so that Ukrainians are more vulnerable to Russian attacks-- even further indication that Trump wants Putin to win this war. @SenMarkKelly @SenThomTillis and I are demanding the Pentagon to restore Starshield capabilities so Ukraine has what it needs to defend itself. Not doing so is costing innocent Ukrainian lives. thehill.com/homenews/house/6…

Wisconsin remains a purple bellwether and @RebeccaforWI is being heavily outspent by billionaires who want to thank Van Orden for their tax giveaways. If any race needs more resources to finish the job, it’s this one.
NEW: Senior Democrats are tempering their expectations about how big of a House majority they might win, as both parties see a tightening map. Comes after a barrage of GOP spending. w/ @meredithllee politico.com/news/2026/10/23…

I know I’m just a small-town hayseed from DC and not a PhD from Boston but I suspect DOGE, the National Guard occupation, inflation and Initiative 82 are causing restaurant problems, not a boycott of restaurants serving foie gras.
I know lots of people who avoid restaurants that serve foie gras and veal for example. DC is a small city. Perhaps if the majority vote for this and that ingredient leaves restaurants would get more rather than less business… no one talks about that idea. 🤔

Happy Friday. Failure of Trump energy policy in two numbers: 74 and 39. Diesel avg is $6.32 a gallon today, ⬆️ 74% from ‘25. Gasoline is $4.29, ⬆️ 39%. Most Americans’ disposal income? Way ⬇️.

For years, I’ve been working on a simple problem: it takes too long to build the things we need to power America with clean, affordable energy. The bipartisan Senate infrastructure package not only includes my priorities to build more renewable projects, but it also protects ratepayers from rising energy costs. It’s not perfect, especially with Trump in the White House and his finger on the scale. But he’s a two-year problem. BAAJA solves a three-decade one. This is the most spectacular “I am not getting trapped answering this fucking question” I have seen in a long time. Joe Burrow is a non-answering hero.
Joe Burrow said Bengals owner Mike Brown told him at the start of practice JD Vance would be attending Burrow on the vice presidential visit to Paycor Stadium:

It is true, however, that Capital Commonsense is new to the District. So far its authors seem more interested in identifying the governance problems that have accumulated over the Bowser era than the JLG supporters who promised change. It's a good follow: capitalcommonsense.com/

Italian govt seems far more hard-nosed and realistic about the Russian threat than many in Western Europe.
Bloomberg: Italian officials are looking into whether outside actors such as Russia had a hand in violent protests that swept Milan and other European cities over the weekend, according to people familiar with the matter.

This October is giving off the same vibes as 2006, when Dennis Hastert infamously held a presser in front of cemetery on Oct 10 to make sure the country understood the metaphors re: GOP prospects that November.

The two candidates for Missouri House of Representatives District 158 have something in common. Left: incumbent R - Scott Cupps Right: D - Chris Foster
