Six players making their world championship debut, and some familiar faces who've played their way back on to Hockey Canada's radar.

The IOC's executive board has announced an increase in the number of women's hockey players competing at the 2030 Olympics.
Women will now make up 45.6% of hockey athletes (from 43.4%).
In 2026, the men's tournament had 25-player rosters compared to 23 for women's teams.
The PWHL announced its first outside investors earlier this week.
For the Ilitch Companies, it was a partnership years in the making.

When Ismaël Koné arrived in Montreal from the Ivory Coast, he used to go to Loyola Park after a snowfall shovel a patch for him and the ball and just play. His soccer journey is quintessentially Canadian. He's adored in St. Laurent and Montreal, and now across Canada #CanMNT
Avi Adam drafted to the Montreal Victoire, Jacob Shaffelburg credited with a men’s World Cup goal…this might be the biggest 24 hours ever in the Annapolis Valley. 🍎
Jacob Shaffelburg takes a ball to the face and then follows it up with a little piece of magic.
Port Williams, Nova Scotia stand up. Your native son has a World Cup goal.
UBC Thunderbirds forward, Grace Elliott, becomes the first U Sports player selected in this year’s PWHL Draft, going 38th overall to Seattle.
At six-foot-two, I believe she would be the tallest player in the league.
To the surprise of no one, University of Wisconsin defender Caroline Harvey goes 1st overall to Vancouver.
A big hug with her teammate and best friend, Laila Edwards, after her name is called.
Laila shouldn’t have to wait too long to hear her name called tonight.
University of Minnesota forward Abbey Murphy goes second to the Seattle Torrent. Lots of pure skill, and she immediately makes Seattle harder to play against.
It was an easy vote for Caroline Harvey as IIHF Female Player of the Year. A look back at her season:
-Olympic MVP
-NCAA champion
-Patty Kazmaier winner
And tonight, she's likely to add first-overall PWHL draft pick to that résumé. Pretty great year.
Happy PWHL Draft day from Detroit.

The NHL will no longer be shown on CBC.
In its place, CBC will launch a new Saturday night prime time show on CBC and streaming on CBC Gem, featuring Canadian athletes competing at home and at the biggest events around the world.

Good morning from the airport, where I'm headed to Detroit for the PWHL Awards and Draft this week.
Caroline Harvey is a name you'll hear a lot this week. We chatted last week about her incredible year, and her rise to top PWHL prospect:
