Can cell phone activity data predict trauma center needs?
@PawanMathewMD @kevinMschuster @YaleSurgRes found that population mobility measured by cell phone data correlates with trauma admissions. A novel tool for smarter trauma system planning! 📱🚑

After adjusting for patient characteristics, patients managed non-operatively for appendicitis were approximately twice as likely to re-present to the ED, be hospitalized, or undergo a CT scan within one-year compared to operatively managed patients.

Trainees: Demystify the care of your patients!
1. Do not be satisfied by only reviewing the notes/reports.
2. Go to your patient's endoscopy
3. Watch IR do the embolization
4. Review the images with radiology
5. Look at those bleeping pumps & ask the nurse how they function.

Looking forward to great things from you SIR🙂
Nine years ago I did a sub-I at MSK as an IMG. It was so wonderful, that it became a dream to ever have the privilege to train there. Today, I’ve come full circle as I have matched @MSKCancerCenter for thoracic surgery fellowship!!! 🫁
