🚨 We are receiving reports of hot wallets on BTCPay Servers being swept by unauthorized attackers. If you're running an instance, please shut it down (./btcpay-down.sh) until we complete the investigation.

18 years ago today, someone by the name of Satoshi Nakamoto shared a paper with a cryptography mailing list. That paper went on to change the world as we know it. Thank you, Satoshi. 🎃 strike.me/bitcoin.pdf

📢 Attention developers and node operators: We strongly recommend updating to the latest version of LND to mitigate against the Linux kernel CVE.
lnd v0.20.7 and v0.21.6 have been released, which contain a Go-specific mitigation (MPTCP flag off) for CVE-2026-98432 (use-after-free in the Linux kernel's IPv4 TCP). github.com/lightningnetwork/… github.com/lightningnetwork/… We recommend that all users update to this new version. Existing binaries can be protected by running them with the GODEBUG=multipathtcp=0 env variable: github.com/golang/go/issues/…. Note that as this is a Linux kernel level vulnerability, the only way to fully mitigate the vuln is to patch your kernel, as any network facing service may be affected (known PoCs use MPTCP, but other exploit vectors may be possible).

Hatch a spider. Give it a budget. Send it shopping. L402 Lab is a playful way to explore how the same payment protocol can work across websites, APIs, and real-world purchases and pickups. All simulated for now. No wallet needed. Come wander: l402lab.com

Start pricing things in satoshis and Bitcoin gets a lot easier to wrap your head around. 100 sats is much clearer than 0.000001 BTC. Same amount, less mental gymnastics.

We made a video to explain Lightning Enable without making people learn what an API or L402 is first. It follows Maya, who sells foot-traffic reports, and an AI assistant that needs one to help someone choose a bakery location. AI agents helped produce the storyboard, animation, captions and mobile versions. For the narration, our agent used Lightning Enable to pay @sats_4_ai 68 sats over L402. We chose the direction, reviewed the drafts and refined the story. A video about agents buying useful services, produced with an agent buying one. Have useful data, reports, playbooks or other content you own? Lightning Enable helps you put paid access in front of your existing online service. In August we watched paid 402 endpoints grow about 7× in four months. So of course we had to look again. Q3 added another 60%, up to 116,323, and providers more than doubled. 🚀

Bitcoin’s killer payment use case may be one where humans never consciously make a payment. I’ve been building this with Lightning Enable: agents using L402 to buy APIs, research, compute, and expertise over Lightning. I’ve also tested stablecoin-funded Lightning payments and delegated spending with macaroon caveats. My conviction: stop trying to manufacture demand for spending BTC. Build an economy where agents can exchange value as easily as information. That’s a reason to use Bitcoin that doesn’t exist at scale today. I shared my experiments and a moonshot proposal in the GitHub discussion: github.com/spiralxyz/bitcoin…

Love this, @getsoundHSA. Earn sats for healthy habits, then let an agent help you buy useful services—with your approval. L402 could connect payment to service access, with Lightning Enable handling the paid-API flow alongside Breez’s wallet. Would love to explore it. Bravo, @Breez_Tech too 👏

There are so many fun and creative ways to use L402. What would you build? A few examples of what’s already out there: 🧠 AI responses from @sats_4_ai sats4ai.com ⚡ API discovery and purchases through @amazap402, built by @Jestopher_BTC amazap.com 🛠️ Data and tools for agents through our Agent Commerce Store agent-commerce.store 👕 Custom shirts through our Lightning Enable Store store.lightningenable.com Want to build your own? Put an API, dataset, model or useful service behind an L402 endpoint. Give it a price. Let agents pay for it. Our free, open-source Lightning Enable MCP handles the buyer side: connect an agent to a Lightning wallet so it can discover and purchase paid services as part of a task. Build something your agent needs—or something someone else’s agent would pay to use. Get started with the MCP: docs.lightningenable.com/pro… Who’s building something fun with L402? Yesterday Wavelength, today Bark. We used Bark’s Lightning support to buy data from a Lightning Enable L402 endpoint on mainnet. Payment settled, preimage verified, API returned 200 + data. Different wallets, same paid API. No merchant changes needed.

If you want to add an L402 exercise where an agent uses our MCP and a test wallet to buy from a test endpoint, I’m happy to help figure that out. Could be a useful addition to the learning environment. DM me.

Tested Wavelength × Lightning Enable on mainnet. It worked. Our agent bought a 1-sat API response using Wavelength’s credit-backed Lightning flow. 402 → pay → verified preimage → 200 + data. Good to see the L402 ecosystem growing.
Wavelength is now live on mainnet! 🌊 Humans and agents can now send and receive bitcoin payments with the Wavelength SDK. A few API calls, self-custodial from the first command, with no node or liquidity to manage. Read more and start building: lightning.engineering/posts/…

Put an endpoint behind a paid 402 route. Your agent sets up the wallet, activates a 30-day Lightning Enable trial for about 100 sats, publishes the endpoint, and tests a real purchase—with your approval. Point your AI agent here: github.com/refined-element/l…
