Cannabis dramatically improves memory & thinking! CBD dramatically improves memory & thinking problems after traumatic brain injury by blocking cell-damaging stress & death! CBD helps protect brain cells (neurons) and improves thinking/memory problems after brain injury by: Reducing harmful "oxidative stress" (basically cell-damaging rust-like chemical reactions) Stopping brain cells from dying (apoptosis/programmed cell death) CBD sticks directly to a protein called SET inside brain cells. This binding causes SET to change shape slightly and get "stuck" in the cytoplasm (the main body of the cell) instead of moving into the nucleus (cell control center). pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4151…

Cannabis users show ZERO lasting brain deficits in memory/executive function! Cannabis users tended to score higher on novelty seeking (loving new, exciting, or intense experiences). Cannabis users also scored lower on introvertive anhedonia (less social withdrawal or lack of pleasure in being around people; basically, more enjoyment of social stuff). Past studies often linked cannabis to thinking problems or mental health issues, but here the long-term cannabis users showed no clear deficits in brain tasks. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4168…

44-year study showed Cannabis users showed LESS brain aging/decline! Main finding: Men who had ever used cannabis actually showed less drop in their cognitive (thinking) abilities over the decades compared to men who never used it. Among the cannabis users, things like starting at a young age or using it frequently did not lead to worse long-term cognitive decline. Overall conclusion: In this large group of men tracked for over 40 years, cannabis use did not cause harmful long-term effects on age-related brain aging or cognitive decline. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3950…

Cannabis users' brains look YOUNGER! People who used cannabis showed better scores on various thinking tests (multiple areas of cognition / mental performance). The brain changes linked to cannabis and the better thinking abilities appeared together across many different brain systems. Cannabis users' brains showed connection patterns more like those seen in younger people, plus stronger cognitive (thinking) skills. researchsquare.com/article/r…

Data on 35,000+ adults: the more cannabis you’ve used in life, the bigger your hippocampus and the better your brain works after 40! People who had ever used cannabis tended to have larger brain volume in key areas that are full of natural cannabis-like receptors (especially the hippocampus, amygdala, caudate, and putamen – these areas are important for memory, emotions, learning, and movement). The more cannabis someone had used in their lifetime, the larger these brain areas were and the better they performed on tests of learning, processing speed, and short-term memory. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4137…

Scientists cracked open a wild cannabis plant and found its two DNA copies don’t match! One side’s genes are silenced or broken by “jumping DNA,” driving huge differences in cannabinoids and other compounds. This hidden genetic mismatch is why plants vary so much and could unlock precise medical breeding. These two versions differ a lot—there are thousands of extra, missing, or rearranged pieces of DNA between them—and those differences help explain why cannabis plants can produce such a wide range of medicinal chemicals (like cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids). Knowing which specific gene versions drive higher levels of desirable compounds could help breeders develop better medicinal cannabis strains more precisely. It also shows why protecting wild cannabis plants is important—they hold genetic variety that cultivated plants have often lost. academic.oup.com/hr/article/…

"Cannabidiol Inhibits the Proliferation and Invasiveness of Prostate Cancer Cells"! Lab tests showed CBD (from cannabis) slowed prostate cancer cell growth and survival. It did this by reducing key growth proteins and blocking a growth signal (AKT), and the effects didn’t rely on CBD’s usual cell receptors. CBD also made aggressive cancer cells less invasive and increased a “stick-together” protein (E-cadherin). pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3770…

CBD slashes aggressive prostate cancer cell survival by up to 37%! CBD killed a significant number of the cancer cells (reduced their survival by up to ~37%) It triggered programmed cell death (called apoptosis) — basically telling the cancer cells to self-destruct in a controlled way Caused the cell's DNA to break apart (DNA fragmentation — a clear sign of cell suicide) Disrupted the mitochondria (the cell's power plants), damaging their energy-producing membrane and causing a drop in cellular energy (ATP) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3779…

Cannabis - Game-changer for prostate cancer patients? On the PET/CT scans: The group using both chemo + cannabis was more likely to show signs of the cancer shrinking or going into remission (better tumor response). Pain: Men using cannabis (alone or with chemo) reported bigger drops in pain compared to those on chemo only. Quality of life: Cannabis users had better improvements in emotional/mood well-being, self-care ability, and doing normal daily activities. karger.com/mca/article/9/1/5…

Scientists created an inhaled CBD formula that doesn’t just fight radiation lung damage! It lowered inflammation and oxidative stress markers while raising protective enzymes in the lungs. It also helped repair specialized lung cells (alveolar type II cells) and reduced the development of lung scarring (fibrosis). sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Cannabis is Medicine: How CBD and Medical Cannabis are Healing Everything from Anxiety to Chronic Pain! "To those who don’t “believe” in cannabis as medicine, I ask, “Do you know about the endocannabinoid system and what medical conditions are associated with its dysfunction?” If they cannot answer this question, they are not knowledgeable" Goldstein, Bonni. This review of 34 studies found that medical cannabis can shorten migraines and reduce how often they occur! Cannabis has long been used for medical and recreational purposes. It may help manage symptoms of cancer, chronic pain, headaches, migraines, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Active compounds (THC, CBD, and others) affect the body’s endocannabinoid system to reduce pain and symptom frequency. U.S. research is limited because cannabis is a Schedule I drug. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3458…

Medical cannabis may cut migraine length & frequency! Works on Cluster headaches too! Medical cannabis is used more for migraines, but stigma as a recreational drug limits its legal acceptance in the US. It reduces pain signals and migraine frequency via the body’s endocannabinoid system. A review of nine studies (using standard methods) found it shortens and lessens migraines, with no serious side effects. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3666…

First-ever chemical map of CBD and its breakdown products inside brain tissue! Researchers developed a new imaging method to map where CBD and its main breakdown products are located in tissue (especially brain). They used mass spectrometry imaging plus a chemical tag (FMP-10) that makes CBD and its metabolites easier to detect. The method was tested and validated on rat brain tissue, then applied to brains of young rats given a high dose of CBD. It successfully detected CBD and its two main metabolites at low levels, and could also identify key brain chemicals and cell types in the same tissue slices. This is the first use of this tagging approach for CBD imaging and provides a new tool to study how cannabis compounds distribute and interact with specific cells. frontiersin.org/journals/tox…
