Watch an exclusive clip of ‘@paulineblackOBE Pauline Black: A 2-Tone Story’ ahead of it’s premiere this weekend at the @BFI London Film Festival 🎥 The new film from @janemingay documents Black’s significant influence in pushing 2-Tone to the forefront of British music culture with her work as the singer of @TheSelecter, ‘while supporting and campaigning for racial equality’. I’m looking to interview comrades involved in organising ‘Stop the City’ demos in London and further afield in 1983-84 for an archive about the intersection between anarcho-punk and street politics to be housed at @maydayrooms. Please share with any potential interested parties!

Really sorry to hear of Nicky’s passing. Sounds silly but I didn’t think it was possible for this day to ever come, she never stopped! She was so passionate and hard working but still found time to check how you were. So many memories. She will be greatly missed by so many.
Nicky's family is very sad to announce that she has died. She passed away peacefully at home on 30th August.

Overall - we approach the fifth anniversary of Grenfell unable to say that the tragedy could not happen again. And that is something no one would have accepted when they saw the images of flames ripping through the tower half a decade ago tomorrow.

It’s been wonderful to assist students with great projects this term @UCLurbanlab but it’s something special to see them self organise a curatorial collective around the theme, despite its ongoing realities 🥰. Details for submissions here, d/l 31/5: ucl.ac.uk/urban-lab/urban-mi…

It was a pleasure to review @MattWThompson’s Reconstructing Public Housing for @HousingJournal. The community imperative it demands seems ever more prescient given the events of Merseyside municipalism in the few months since I read it tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…

Boris Johnson says "newt counting" is the cause of slow building in the UK. According to the Conservative Party's own detailed analysis, that is, I'm afraid, bollocks

Despairing the “Jenrick” affair is “closed” and “complex” but some journos are looking further back, where lies the simplicity. Mayor Boris didn’t take his planning decisions and the development sector was rather fond of his Deputy Mayors for Planning who did...

Sadiq Khan has a manifesto mandate for a 35% Affordable Housing expectation. He left untouched in his Housing Strategy Boris’ expectations of 20% profit for developers in viability calculations. What other industry has equivalent? But here we are on Westferry, and the Plan.

So remember this and the double theft of grant and gain when criticising your local authority/Mayor for pitiful levels of “affordable” housing in the next year or so. Some may be due, but this is and long has been a fight for any AH at all. And it’s going to get so much worse.
Great English land sale! Englands green and pleasant land sold off to speculators, spivs and wealth extractors. It's #buildbackworse. What will be the local economic development response? Time to stay strong and not play this fire sale game. theguardian.com/business/202…
