I would lean towards goats, especially for a beginner with N3 million. The entry cost is relatively lower, they reproduce faster, and you can gradually expand the herd without tying down all your capital. Cattle can be profitable too, but the cost of feeding, housing, healthcare and management is higher.
My advice is to start with what you can manage profitably, understand the market, keep proper records and reinvest. In livestock farming, the animal you buy isnโt necessarily where the profit liesโฆmanagement and market access make the difference.
A beginner wants to invest โฆ3 million in a livestock, would you advise him to put it into goats or cattle?
Imagine running either business for the next 5 years. Which one do you think will give him better returns and pay his bills?
