Asimov 1 is an open-source humanoid robot. Everything that's open on Asimov 1: - Bill of materials - Mechanical CAD - Electrical schematics and PCBs - Fabrication manifest - Assembly manual - Wiring harness - Edge, the onboard runtime - Python SDK and CLI - Robot API and wire format - Locomotion policy - MJCF and URDF sim models - RL training code for Isaac Lab and MJLab - Sim-to-real training guides - OpenCrane (yes, it was not a joke!) Take it apart, change it, build something nobody has thought of yet.

Amazing. How much of the stack have you actually opened up?

Humanoid robots come flat-packed now. Asimov 1 is $20,000 and takes about a week to build. Menlo made it because a part broke on their closed-source robot and they spent two months waiting for the replacement. producthunt.com/products/asi…

Building a humanoid robot is becoming a lot more accessible. @menloresearch has released the Asimov 1 user manual, giving people a guide to building their own humanoid instead of just watching robotics companies do it. Curious to see how many people will actually take on the challenge. docs.menlo.ai

This is how we zero Asimov 1, from positioning each joint to checking the calibration in Asimov Manager. We go through the full process with the robot and the app side by side, so you can follow along with yours.

I thought Asimov didn't have vision but it has a camera?

This is what you get with Asimov 1. Give it a few hours a week and you'll have a full humanoid robot you can train and change however you like. Enjoy the build, folks!

Menlo SDK is now open-source. - Turn your ideas into new capabilities for your Asimov 1 - Control its movements and read its state from your code - Use its camera, microphone and speaker in your applications Start building on humanoids: github.com/menloresearch/men…
We're open-sourcing Menlo SDK so you can build your own applications for a humanoid robot. The SDK connects your code to Asimov 1, letting you control its movements and read its state. With the full source available, you can build on the existing foundation and adapt it to what your project needs. You can use it to replay a motion, control the robot through a VR headset, or run your trained policy on real hardware. We're also open-sourcing Asimov Edge, the software that runs on the robot, checks incoming commands, and manages control between your application, a gamepad and other controllers. - SDK: github.com/menloresearch/men… - Docs: docs.menlo.ai/sdk - Order yours: menlo.ai/asimov-1 Keep going.
