Some of the best startups I've seen solve problems that are incredibly boring. Invoicing and billing software. Appointment scheduling. Inventory management. Compliance reporting. Stuff nobody is getting excited about at a dinner party lol. But here's what I love about these businesses. The problems are real. Customers already spend money solving them. And once your software becomes part of how someone runs their business, they have a pretty good reason to keep paying you. Imagine building a simple scheduling tool for plumbing companies. You get 200 businesses paying $250 a month. That's $50K MRR or $600K a year. All from helping plumbers manage their calendars. Pretty awesome business if you ask me. I think too many founders spend months looking for some revolutionary idea when there are thousands of ordinary businesses dealing with the same annoying problems every single day. You don't need to invent the next social network. Sometimes you just need to make something that saves a business owner five hours a week. Boring software can make a lot of money. And I absolutely love that about entrepreneurship. P.S. thinking about selling your startup? Our team will help you understand what your business is worth, prepare it for buyers, and guide you through the entire acquisition process. Meet the team here: acquire.com/guided-by-acquir…

Your first $10K in MRR is one of the hardest milestones you'll ever hit as a founder. Getting 100 strangers to pay you $100 a month for something you built is pretty incredible. Especially when you remember how it started. You probably spent months building the product. Launched to absolutely nobody. Sent 100s of cold emails. Got ignored by 99% of them. Had customers tell you your product sucked. And at some point you probably wondered if anyone was ever going to pay for the damn thing lol. Then you get your first customer. Then 10 and then 50. Eventually your waking up to $10K in recurring revenue every month. That's $120K ARR. You've figured out how to build something people actually want and convince them to pay for it. And now you've got a foundation to build on. I think founders sometimes get so caught up comparing themselves to startups doing $10M or $100M in revenue that they forget how difficult those first few customers really are. If you're working toward your first $10K MRR, keep going. And if you've already hit it, take a minute to appreciate what you've built. It's a pretty damn big deal. P.S. thinking about selling your startup? Our team will help you understand what your business is worth, prepare it for buyers, and guide you through the entire acquisition process. One of the weirdest things about building a successful startup is that eventually you might stop enjoying it. You started a company because you love building stuff. You're talking to customers and shipping product. Figuring out how to get your first 100 users. Every day feels like you're creating something new. Then 5 years go by.... You've got 30 employees, millions in revenue, and a business that's doing great. But now your calendar is full of meetings. You're dealing with HR issues and reviewing budgets. Managing managers and teams. And somehow you haven't touched the product in six months lol. I've experienced this first hand. The skill required to start a company are pretty different from the skills required to run one with 30 employees. There's nothing wrong with realizing you enjoy 1 more than the other. Maybe you hire someone to run the business. OR maybe you sell it and go build something new. I think a lot of founders feel guilty admitting they're ready to move on from something they worked so hard to create. But you've already done something pretty incredible. You're allowed to want to do it again. P.S. thinking about selling your startup? Our team will help you understand what your business is worth, prepare it for buyers, and guide you through the entire acquisition process. Meet the team here: acquire.com/guided-by-acquir…
