50 years ago today, John Carpenter @TheHorrorMaster unleashed 'Assault on Precinct 13' (1976), one of the best low-budget genre films of the Seventies and a loving homage to one of his filmmaking heroes, Howard Hawks. Check out my 50th anniversary review: piped.video/watch?v=XsfZ2uIF…

This may be of interest only to me but the largest religious group to show up at the polls yesterday was no religion at all:

Zay Flowers managers:

Trade: the Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a trade to send QB Jacoby Brissett to the Baltimore Ravens, per @RapSheet and me. Deal is expected to be completed this weekend. The Ravens lost QB Lamar Jackson to a thumb injury, and his backup Tyler “Snoop” Huntley to turf toe.

Seahawks QB Sam Darnold will be out Sunday vs. Arizona due to quad injury, per HC Mike Macdonald.

Rams S Quentin Lake on facing Justin Herbert: "I mean, he was throwing deli meat out there. He's seeing ghosts, I'm not going to lie. We knew we were getting a couple." (@StBrownPodcast)

I love the big CGI space battles in late-DS9, they're so enormous and exciting, after so many seasons, it felt like a real treat to see this many ships in battle! #StarTrek #DeepSpaceNine #DominionWar #CaptainSisko #Worf #Dax (#DS9 6x06)

The Mississippi Senate race is an extraordinary story. If you dig up the history between the two Scott Colom (Dem) vs Cindy Hyde (GOP). This guy Colom was minding his own business and was on track to be a district judge (local bi partisan choice btw) under Biden. But Hyde Smith the current Senator wouldn't give her approval, she blocked Colom's nomination and that was the end of his district judge path. So last year Colom decided to run against Hyde Smith. He is within striking distance of becoming the first black Senator for Mississippi since 1871, and the first Dem Senator since 1989.

Former NFL kicker Jay Feely is down by more than 11 points with 73% of the vote reporting. The New York Times currently projects Democrat Amish Shah, who was the Jets' team doctor at the same time Feely kicked for the team, to win by roughly 8.5 points.
