Happy birthday to Dana Colley! Morphine’s sound wouldn’t be what it is without his masterful saxophone playing. We’re excited for everyone to hear Dana’s newly recorded parts on the upcoming album.

Cocoon lyrics with Mark’s hand-drawn doodles and notes. He loved performing and traveling the world with Morphine, but he also loved to cocoon when he came home.
The loft was both Mark's home and studio where music was always happening, tape running, friends dropping by at all hours, lots of cooking. The lyrics speak to the joys of coming home to loved ones after months on tour.
"Slip into my cocoon
Plush-lined, custom designed
No one comes in except for you
In my cocoon"

The album cover for Cocoon features Sabine's reflection in the window of a train en route to Antwerp taken in 1998 by Mark Sandman. The reverse is a selfie shot at his loft and studio in Cambridge, Mass.
The burst of light, his distant gaze, and the portal-like background set against the blue sky conveys an otherworldly quality, while the camera gives the impression they are in conversation across space and time. morphineband.com/

While Morphine superfans may recognize different versions of some of these songs, Cocoon brings these newly mixed recordings together from their original multitrack tapes with new saxophone overdubs by Dana as a unified album for the first time.
