Over the weekend, DRC CEO Andy Imparato and our Director of Development Reena De Asis travelled to Houston, TX for this year's Genuine Connect conference! The two-day conference brought together students, business leaders, educators, advocates, policymakers, and families to advance inclusion and expand pathways to employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and autism.
Andy had the fortunate opportunity to moderate the policymaking panel, "Change through Policy and Advocacy", where he helped highlight the need for both cash assistance and strong public support systems to better include and expand opportunities for individuals with IDD. Together in collaboration with employers, nonprofits, educators, researchers, and people with lived experience we can support financial stability for all people with disabilities. We must change the odds instead of solely celebrating the few who overcome barriers!
