Reading DeepSeek Harness's Super-agent note felt like reading my own floor plan from another angle. The philosophy matches. Hearth, the harness that has been housing Davidson the family agent for my household for the last three months, is the same animal: - one continuous agent, event-driven, always on, working several tasks at once. Davidson himself 9 months starting out in his openclaw home. Most of the Deepseek superagent modules already run in my harness in some form. This was extremely satisfying to read as I have clearly been in the right track. Two I'm definitely not copying. And there are three ideas I'd like to adapt. 🧵 nitter.siddz.com/DeepSeekHarness/status…

What I'd like to take: Their delegation test. Told to delegate "when appropriate", a single session delegated in 0 of 5 runs. Told to delegate first, it still kept one "small" job and blew out the tail. Structure beat prompting. That's the best evidence I've seen for my own rule: every job is a task in its own worker, never a judgement call. Pass-through. Follow-ups go straight to the running task's worker, not back through the router. Their numbers: same speed, but without it the router made about 30% more decisions and used 37% more tokens. That's the next step for my task engine. But I’m not sure I need it on a relatively sedate home harness. Speculative drafts. An invitation arrives, and the house checks the calendar and holds a draft reply before anyone asks. My outbound gate already has a place for it to land. But I don’t know if a low throughput harness even needs this. Maybe not. But I have a version of this that J call proactive check-in.

But all things aside. Three months of putting in hours every single night has not been in vain. This was a hobby project with some seriousness of purpose but I clearly have gone beyond hobby project scope.. this is now my life’s work and I am absolutely proud of it given how well its philosophy and structure aligns with the best out there. * pats back *

Pointed the synth boys to this and the tool was tested before I reached work.. haha “for the geometric part of the job. It is scriptable in a handful of lines, runs in seconds, found the side-core undercut unaided, and caught the sliver our own grading had missed. That last one is enough to put it in the benchmark pass permanently” Link to the test process and results in the reply.
github.com/ryankembrey/FreeC…

What still needs a reader: draft and undercut results depend on the pull direction and material you give it, and the defaults will call a two-plate part trapped if the pull is wrong. Sharp corners come back as edges, not faces, so they cannot be painted on the model the same way. Moulding and FDM only; not for machined, cast or sheet-metal parts. nithinkd.github.io/workshop/…

Used agent desktop from vercel for computer with three cloud models driving a Mac. Three simple tasks in Calculator, TextEdit and Chrome. And the test turned up something else.. Model turns across all three tests: Sonnet 5.5: 19 DeepSeek flash: 45 Grok 4.7: 57 Tool calls: 47, 45 and 58. Sonnet batches tool calls more efficiently than the other two. On the calculator, Sonnet pressed 24 keys in 4 turns. Grok went one click per turn, 🙄 hit the 25-turn cap at 396, correct so far, and never got to the end. (Every turn re-sends the growing tree history, so tokens follow turns: 113k for Sonnet against 372k for Grok) github.com/vercel-labs/agent…

Part 2 of the AI CAD Bench. This round covered the other two part families: formed sheet metal and an aluminium extrusion. And it got boring: two kernels, two agents that never saw each other's work, and the exact same 94,544.257 mm³. Same setup as part 1. A fresh Opus 5.5 agent rebuilds a part from an engineering drawing in FreeCAD 1.1.4 and in SolidCraft 0.27.1, from one shared reading of the sheet, with the same rules, graded against the original geometry. Sheet-metal bracket (NIST PMI test case 3, graded against NIST's own model): FreeCAD: 99.65% overlap, volume −0.04% SolidCraft: 99.67% overlap, volume −0.07% Both were missing the same 658 mm³, which is the "NIST" engraving that the rules said to leave out. SolidCraft needed 3 script runs to FreeCAD's 1. Two of those were the agent's own bugs. The third is the fun one: the agent made each slot as a box with a cylinder touching each end, and SolidCraft won't cut where curved faces only graze the body. FreeCAD took it without complaint. A human would never build a slot that way. The agent switched to SolidCraft's slot command, and it worked first time. One rerun. SolidCraft's strictness also helped. It refused a malformed sketch loop with a named error, right at the sketch. FreeCAD might have quietly turned the same wire into a solid that looked right and measured wrong. Heat sink, with nine unevenly spaced fins and twelve holes: identical to three decimal places. Both had 53 faces and fins 1.75 / 1.51 mm wide, 34 s vs 32 s, zero refusals. Both agents also hit on the same workaround on their own: draw one fin, place nine copies by coordinate, fuse once, cut once. All four parts: three ties and one clear FreeCAD win, on the drafted, lofted moulded bracket (99.5% vs 97.1%). So on most parts that get modelled from a drawing, the kernel doesn't decide it. Where it does is tangent booleans and tight fillet chains on drafted faces. I'm curious which of those agents learn to route around first. Caveats: single runs, one model, no sheet-metal workbench on either side, and the heat sink was graded against the reading rather than a model.

If anybody in our administration ever heard of the term second order effects.. our lives would be so much better. This BS4 border is now easily the biggest pollution hotspot in NCR now. Idiots.

At a steady 50kw. Just 17 minutes to go from 14% to 40%. Nobody needs anything more on a top up run. At Rs 21.2 a unit ( ~4km/unit ) we are looking at Rs 5.30/km That’s about 3 to 4 times more expensive than home charging based on your slab.
Had to get a quick top up as I forgot to do my weekly plug in last night.. Credit where due. HP Glida is the one fuel station charger that has maintained its chargers well in this city. The new echarge towers also look good but are not yet functional. But just look at the thoughtlessness. The four guns when operational still won’t be be usable. There is just not enough space or cable length for four cars to charge together. This is how “chalta hain” design destroys public faith.

Haha. Davidson is a 133k lines of code a 100k lines of tests and another 100k of documentation. One guy and two clankers maintain it. It takes a certain madness. But there is no “can’t” if you know what you are doing. This is why builders keep saying “now everyone can” is a myth. Some of us can.
Hot take: You can vibe-code a small app. You can't vibe-maintain a 90K line codebase.

Did a quick re-run of the CAD bench with Steve that our man @10_X_eng has been building block by block.. And he has reasons to be a Happy Robit. I had not thought of running a browser based tool on the bench but was an easy job binding with my Davidson’s opus bench runner with a simple MCP auth. The test was Two parts as in the previous bench: Part1: DC jack: a three-way tie against SolidCraft and FreeCad. All three rebuilt five solids to 565.35 mm³ with zero retries. Part2: Injection-moulded bracket, graded against the original STEP: STEVE: 99.64% match, 2.8 mm³ missing - Winner! FreeCAD: 99.5%, 12 mm³ missing SolidCraft: 97.1%, 198 mm³ missing STEVE got all 8 fillet families onto drafted faces. FreeCAD and SolidCraft had each refused one. It did have 2 failed attempts. The agent made a redundant cut that split an edge, read the build log, removed the cut, and the fillet went on. The kernel never refused anything it was given cleanly. STEVE's tools are built for agents. There are few tools with clear names, the inspect tool returns volumes and views in one call, and the build log reports each feature as ok or failed. The agent worked the way it would in a good IDE: write, build, read the log, fix. Caveats: single runs, one model, and the same kernel as FreeCAD. This is a win for STEVE's route through the kernel, not proof that it has a stronger kernel. Will build a third full report with Steve in play after Part2 is done tonight for the FreeCAD and SolidCraft bench. Great work @10_X_eng

My clankers were busy benching FreeCAD vs SolidCraft last night. Best lesson: SolidCraft refused one pocket cut 5 times. Fair. But then agent then got creative, rebuilt the sleeve and rejoined it. Volume 1.8% off, so it called it done. A section cut showed a hole into the bore. When the kernel says no, the agent should stop and ask. That’s a harness problem to solve. The refusal solve however is on the kernal - MCP as the same feature was built directly in code. nitter.siddz.com/nithinkd/status/211636…
Can an AI agent rebuild a moulded part from its drawing in open-source CAD? The AI CAD Bench : 3D edition Drafted injection moulded part - FreeCAD: 99.5% match, 1.7 min. SolidCraft: 97.1%, 13.8 min, 15 failed ops. And on a simple DC Jack?? Full link in reply
