I think publications will see a boost in audience if you let folks access your archives via a MCP. Sure, this risks cannibalizing some existing behaviors but if your subs find value in researching the archives, they will be more curious to read your latest, go to events, etc
We're rethinking the way a B2B media company works. Our @BuyingSandlot MCP is coming soon. For a year now, we have thought about how to make our coverage and data more accessible to our premium subscribers. 🤖 The answer has become clear: MCP access. 🌎 Sure, your chatbot can search for youth sports news and trends, and often it will pull in content from Buying Sandlot. But any given query, even with the most powerful models, only searches a thin slice of publicly available content— often leaving holes in the results. And especially leaving holes when relevant data exists in proprietary datasets, polling, and long-form interview transcripts like the ones we churn out every day. ✅ Enter the Buying Media Group MCP. Premium members will soon get direct access to our entire corpus of data: - 714 newsletters and posts, totaling nearly 600k words - 138 podcast transcripts, including all Summit panels, totaling 1.22M words, pulled from 90 hours of audio - A database of 2,807 known companies in youth sports and 259 facilities under development - 520 acquisitions, deals, and partnerships All made possible by our forward thinking platform @beehiiv, which enables us to tap into our content, build things with the data, and monetize it through subscriptions. It will also include all content from our other brands: @BuyingSideline, which covers the business of sports hospitality, and our upcoming vertical covering the business of sports academies. One subscription to unlock what will become the deepest pool of sports business intelligence around. Why? 📰 For media companies, input is becoming more important than output. AI does a really good job on the latter. And yet, most operators in media are simply applying AI to inputs that already publicly exist. That adds little value.  But Buying Sandlot provides inputs that no one else covering youth sports does - or comes even close to doing - and we understand that some people may eventually prefer to have their agent of choice curate their own personal daily newsletter on a range of topics they find interesting. An MCP allows our paying subscribers to use our data in whatever way they see fit. Oh, and it’s a must-have for anyone investing in youth sports.

Feels inevitable that a lot of the beltway trade / prosumer pubs and their offshoots like Puck will go this route and see both churn go down and open rates go up

SUNSET DUNES FOREVER!!! Even though we no longer live near the best city beach in the world, this brings me so much joy. Someone please go to Devil's Tooth today and go eat a breakfast sandwich watching the plovers dawdle along.
Just in: Sunset Dunes will live another day after voters gave a definitive thumbs down to Proposition G, which would have closed the popular park to pedestrians and reopened the Great Highway to cars on weekdays. Read more: sf.news/3WrChyC

This app isn't a reliable news source. aka never trust the For You algo on this hell site. Today there are a variety of reasons to assume Elon will do whatever is possible to create a narrative that promotes a specific outcome.

As a self professed semi-pro home cook, most of my mental models relate to food prep. I’m happiest when I use an LLM as a Robot-Coupe or a Vitamix. It saves me time and leads to a better product than if I was doing it by hand. When I use an LLM as DoorDash, it’s fine for 1x a week but it feels gross if it’s daily.

Among most of my friends, I am the token "Tampa Bay fan" aka I am the one Rays fan in the group chat. I didn't expect to feel so utterly devastated last night (I can still feel things!) but I am also grateful for how much fun this team was to follow. Go Rays. Heck of a year!

My advise for my fellow milleinal dads: * Get the MLB app * Sign up for the cheap sub to get radio broadcasts * Listen to a team's local games all summer It's better than a podcast and is so rewarding regardless of the outcome.

Anaheim's Rally Monkey is well known but the Rays beloved DJ Kitty is where it's at. Props to @dennistlin for reporting out the DJ Kitty origin story dating back to 2010. In DJ Kitty We Trust
The Rays might need all nine of DJ Kitty's lives to claw back into the World Series 🐱🎧 DJ Kitty has been a Tampa Bay fan favorite for over 15 years, but her rise to stardom began with a rescued cat, a Walmart turntable and an 80-second video. The story behind the Rays' unlikely icon: nyti.ms/4i8Lp3O

I haven’t felt this level of nerves mixed excitement dashed with hope for the Rays tonight. It’s rare to feel like a kid when thinking about sports and I’m so grateful this Rays squad helped remind me why I love this so much.

I am also a member of the "what is up with all those Ringer Substacks*" and one way to think about it... There are a lot of people who genuinely loved Grantland and are now fond of the Ringer and want to feel a part of whatever it is. Call it a community. Call it parasocial fandom. Call it "these are my readers." When you see folks tweet about "x now has a substack" sure there's some insider baseball gossip and speculation (esp from us terminally online folks) but it's also because a lot of listeners / readers feel less trust towards whatever the Ringer is today under Spotify/Netflix/FanDuel. All it takes is a BS podcast where he excitedly talks about how much he loves reading these blogs on his iPad and why they are trying this out! The fact that we haven't had that happen yet is a red flag to the die hards. Anyway, @SheaSerrano has a new hoops newsletter and its great. *and one beehiiv

We have one!
Introducing the LINEAR MCP — the human-curated taste layer for your machines. We’ve curated more than 1,000 spaces and places we think feel LINEAR. Now your agents have access to them too. Ask ChatGPT where we’d send you for a glass of wine in New York City. Or have Claude find you a hotel in Puerto Escondido and book it through LINEAR Concierge.

Reason #1414 why I love working @TheAthletic Sports magazines didn't die, they just evolved into web pages and apps. Today's feature on headsets is the type of reporting (and layout / production) that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Must read. So much fun!
For a year, @SandoNFL and I dove into what actually goes on in an NFL headset, and the vast networks that make every play possible - hidden in plain sight. Then, the best visuals team in the world made it tangible. A project unlike any you’ve seen: nytimes.com/athletic/interac…

Searching MCPs built on podcast and newsletter archives = my favorite research tool at the moment. It's wild how much fun I'm having and how much better this is compared to Google, Gemini, etc. It's like I'm a high school policy debater with a borrowed lexis account again!

The dissonance between IG/TikTok are destroying attention spans with they are driving a rise in book sales is hard to parse but hey, I'll take it!
