Odysseus probably felt so hopeless, caught between such godlike power as Agamemnon and Achilles. He must have found it funny that among the three, he would be the only one to grow old in his homeland. Why going for the long play is a deceptively effective strategy.

Montagnard seems like someone who did well and school and now has a high-paying job, and is kind of insulated as a consequence. Mr. Star seems like he's just a kid still in school and doesn't have much life experience. Oecolamp is your wise, all-knowing god-king father.

I don't mind if they hate me for this post, but I think they'll miss out on a lot if they block me. They're guaranteed to surpass me in influence, so my posts might help them make correct decisions.

Japanese whiskey highballs are great with a little bit of Calipco concentrate, but it's a shame that it makes the drink look exactly like cum.

The modern world doesn't have enough dignity for Socratic arguments. You can lead someone though reason into admitting that their premise has an absurd conclusion, but they will just agree with the absurd conclusion. No one fears the audience will notice it's absurd.

Fitz definitely had his own fan club among the girls at Ranoa, and probably Rudy as well. When word got around that the top bishounen at the academy was secretly a girl, and pregnant by the second top bishounen, I imagine a lot of girls went to heaven that day.

Deleting my earlier post because I realized there's no good reason to give this person any more attention. I'm asking my followers to please block and report this account for engagement baiting. It's only through collective effort can we disincentivize this kind of slop.
Its kind of funny to me how men all want to be the prize now. Women used to be pursued, now men want to be the ones pursued. They want to be chased. They want the girls they find beautiful to think he’s out of their league. The old man trope of “I’m lucky she puts up with me” and he had to fight for his life to win her over just isnt worth the effort to these guys. You can blame their opinion that they think women arent worth it but it seems more like learned helplessness. Men were dying in war while getting Dear John letters. It cant possibly be worse now. I think its some hormone issue. Theyre literally willing to just roll over and die than put any effort in. Im trying to picture it.. the loser in a village of 5 women his generation who are all spoken for already. He has no prospects. No phone to harass women on twitter, no girls to groom on discord. Its bleak. Your village has a few other single guys and they’re going to pillage another village. You go fight with your tribe but you wont take home a war bride. The one you could get was already a mother. “Gross. Sloppy seconds and who knows what else? Id rather die alone.” Now you dont even have to risk dying to abduct women from somewhere else. You have millions of them on your phone. You just have to figure out the right string of words to get them out. “No” he says.. “they should be begging me for a chance. I refuse”

Democracies are essentially held hostage by large percentages of the electorate that left behind all of their neuroplasticity in the early 2000s, in a world that's changing very rapidly.

I would love to make women like this write a 1000-word essay where they earnestly try to make the case for the value of chastity and waiting until marriage. I don't think they could even meet the word requirement, let alone come up with anything convincing.
i understand why women dislike slutty women—the threat is obvious there. but why do men hate sluts so much? men should like sluts. i can see someone having a preference for their own girlfriend to not be a slut (tho sluts have high libidos and know what they’re doing!), but why are men so mad about random girls being slutty? the only thing i can think is that they’re mad that the girl seemingly had sex with everyone except for them.

The strategy "just get a job and become an upstanding member of society" works so long as your political opponents don't ever play dirty and they openly protrct your right to oppose them, which is nothing like our situation.

A new martial art. Advanced body armor and thermal cloaks. A new age. Rebirth of the swordsman.
I think it would be fun to get 20 completely unpracticed guys together to participate in 10 on 10 battles with wooden swords and shields. I would want to see what old strategies we figure out for ourselves and what new strategies we develop. Way more fun than a game of football.

My Mexican no ingles illiterate field hand grandfather got a virgin wife who was devoted to him until the day he died, we can’t even guarantee this for the richest men on earth today. Why are we confused as to why young guys are tapping out on marriage?

The urge to avoid thinking about unpleasant things does not discriminate between the things you can change and the things you can't. If you give in to the impulse to flinch from struggle, you will start to concede even winnable fights.

Basically, to be a father, or a teacher, or a king, you have to nurture the opposite of stoicism: to constantly notice when something is wrong. Before improvement is possible, it must first be conceivable.

Stoicism never sat right with me, and I later figured out why: it's a terrible philosophy for fathers. Imagine trying to tell your kid that you always have to learn to live with bad things and never struggle to change them. It's no wonder Commodus turned out the way he did.
What’s the other outcome? What do you want to do? Lament on twitter? post about being a warrior? I think the world is fine because I understand the set bounds of the future and have already accepted them. A solar flare could knock out global power grids and the world would be fine the next day because everything is a matter of adapting as fast as you can to feedback loops.

This is why I think the way forward is to replace the University with the Campus, a kind of walled garden city with costs kept artificially low, where students are free to pursue their independent projects. Ideally, you'd make them literally walled and in desolate locales.
The university system is a victim of its own success. You can't have an institution devoted to the cultivation of the mind when every student knows he's paying the equivalent of a mortgage for the privilege of attending. Of course only strivers and hustlers would attend.

Go to any "selective" prestigious university, and you'll find the same thing. Cultural dead zone. Disgusting boba and ramen and pho everywhere. No late night coffee spots, no scene. Just dead eyed resume builders and spies jabbering in Mandarin

They say that in order to be happy, you should work a job where you actually desire the outcome, not just they money you get for it. By that standard, I think the only job that would make me happy is "Philosopher King."

I wonder why no one has tried to make being "politically gay" a thing? Or maybe it is, but the guys who made that choice don't advertise it.
