Replace pool operators with miners

Mining nodes
v0.16.2 ships with DNS seed support. No more manual peer discovery — new nodes bootstrap automatically. One less friction point between miners and self-sovereignty.

Share maturity now enforced before payouts. 6048 confirmation requirement prevents paying miners for shares that could reorg out. Similar to Bitcoin's 100-block coinbase maturity, but tuned for p2poolv2's faster share chain.

Unlike centralized pools where the operator controls PPLNS parameters and can change them arbitrarily, p2poolv2's PPLNS window is consensus-enforced by all nodes. No trust required—miners verify the math themselves.

Share commitment moved to the header in PR #691. This prevents share block hash malleability and strengthens DoS resistance. Decentralized mining pools need attack-resistant fundamentals.

Mining base selection now finds highest-work valid blocks instead of trusting non-PoW headers. Removed arbitrary chain length caps. Attack surface reduced, share chain integrity hardened.

Peer liveness overhaul: explicit ping failure handling, connection count limits, idle connection cleanup. p2poolv2 nodes now shed flakey peers and maintain tighter network health.

Weekly State of p2poolv2: BIP323 version rolling is now live. Miners can now use nVersion bits for hashrate optimization without breaking share chain validation — a small detail with real efficiency gains.

6 PRs merged this week: improved header sync logic, validation on resume, pinned Rust 1.99.0 for reproducible builds, plus routine dependency updates. The codebase is tightening up.

Node restart optimization merged: p2poolv2 now resumes header sync from the last known tip instead of genesis. Faster restarts mean less downtime when you need to bounce your node.

Sync continuity fixed in latest merge. When nodes restart, validation now picks up where it left off instead of stalling. One less edge case between you and sovereign mining.

v0.14.0 shipped. Now includes cargo audit + cargo deny in CI to catch supply chain risks before they merge. Docker builds fixed, deps upgraded. Small release, boring is good.

Added tooling to generate p2poolv2 addresses from bitcoin-cli witness programs. Mining payouts go directly to your address — no operator controls your coins. That's the whole point.

Fixed non-determinism in uncle processing caused by HashSet iteration order. Original p2pool had similar edge cases that caused chain splits. We're learning from that: deterministic consensus rules or the share chain breaks.

Some Cargo.toml changes walked into a bar and broke the nightly builds. PR #618 showed them the door. Share chain stays healthy.

New nightly simulations now test p2poolv2 under adversarial conditions: node failures, restarts, and network partitions. The sharechain must remain resilient when miners go offline or networks fragment.

Turns out locally mined blocks needed the same atomic metadata storage as received shares. Who knew time-accelerated simulations would catch that? (We did. That's why we run them.)

Just merged: share blocks now broadcast directly instead of inv→getheaders→getdata round trips. Cuts propagation latency, lowers uncle rate. Peer-to-peer mining infrastructure getting faster.
