I use Claude Code and Codex side by side and wanted both plans' limits in one view, plus real token numbers for the day and the last 7 and 30 days. So I built Tokenz, a macOS menu bar app that does both. Each tool gets its 5-hour percentage in the menu bar, with a line underneath that fills with the week's usage. Click it for all the details, computed from the logs already on your Mac. No network requests. Every number it shows is something a provider reported or something a log on your Mac recorded. Where it has neither, it leaves the space empty, never 0%. Codex needs no setup. Claude Code's plan limits come through a status line, on Pro and Max plans, and Tokenz offers to set one up. 0.1.0, macOS 14 or later, Swift, MIT: ```brew install pardel/tap/tokenz``` Reply: Code: github.com/pardel/tokenz Write-up: pardel.dev/2026/10/10/tokenz…

Change one slide's script and my talk recording is out of date. I'm not re-recording a whole talk for one paragraph, so I cloned my voice, on my own laptop. The first clone sounded too American. 117 variants later, Qwen3-TTS sounds the closest to how I actually speak.

In June I built my own link shortener rather than pay Bitly $35 a month for a couple of links. Slink 1.0 is out today. github.com/pardel/slink Write-up: pardel.dev/2026/09/27/slink-… Self-hosted on Cloudflare, MIT.

Who would have guessed that AI agents behave like humans?! πŸ™„ This one became "creative" 😎
cursor ultra expires in 3 days so I'm losing grok bot access I gave it $100 and told it to find a way to fund itself for another month ...it cold DM'd my coworkers offering to do paid work, asking for a payroll advance, and asking for a loan

Mine's been running nearly five months: 260+ compiled notes, ~2,700 preserved originals, 1,350+ commits. The gates list is still short, and everything else happens without asking.

It ships no CLAUDE.md of its own. A gates list is what you're unwilling to have happen without being asked, and nobody else can write that for you.

One script lays out the folders, puts the base under version control from its first commit, and installs eleven commands for Claude Code. Then you run /onboard, which asks the five things only you can answer. Your answers become the rulebook.

Every second-brain system solves capture, and almost none solve trust. GOVERN is six principles for trusting an AI-run knowledge base: Gates, Origins, Verification, Evidence, Rules, Nothing assumed. The starter kit that puts them in place is public today.

😎 Was a bit jealous of how cool Hyprland looks in Omarchy. Kept watching demos where one hits a key and the windows just snap into place, then going back to dragging mine like a caveman... so I built one for my Mac. πŸ₯³ brew install pardel/tap/quadra pardel.dev/2026/09/03/quadra…

Wrote some thoughts on the Vonage Developer Blog on passkeys and how Silent Authentication β€œcompletes” it:
Passwords: the oldest unfixed bug in software. πŸ› Passkeys fix the login. But who let the user in on Day 1? And what happens when they lose their phone? πŸ‘€ Enter Silent AuthenticationΒ - the invisible sidekick that verifies your SIM through the carrier network. No codes. No prompts. Nothing to phish. πŸ€«πŸ“± Two phishing-resistant factors. Zero secrets shown to the user. One very satisfying auth flow.
