In 2021, the Tories appointed Mr Haldane to "level up" the UK. At the time, he said "Levelling up the UK is one of the signature challenges of our time. It has also been a personal passion throughout my professional career."
"It would throw up a huge dust cloud of uncertainty." Former chief economist at the Bank of England Andy Haldane says reopening a debate about Brexit ‘would be a damaging thing'.

I think it's fair to say that he utterly failed. I'd now be wary of taking too much notice of his apparent pearls of wisdom. An extended period of silence on his part would be welcome.

Following the passing of Storm Boelo over the weekend, the National League has been advised that there was significant damage caused to Southport’s stadium, including damage to panels on the side of the main stand, advertising hoardings, and a marquee in the ground which has been ripped from its stand. Given the extent of the damage, the limited timeframe to fully implement repairs ahead of tomorrow’s game against Macclesfield, and forecast over the next 24 hours, the National League has determined that the match will be postponed in the interest of safety for all parties concerned. #ONEPORT

The BBC has systematically dismantled local radio while @Ofcom has stood by and watched. Audiences abandoned, communities betrayed, and public money squandered. This isn’t modernisation. It’s institutional vandalism, enabled by dreadful leadership & toothless regulator. 🤬🤬
As BBC local radio proposes yet more change despite ample budget in decent hands - is the game all over? How has it come to this? Who's responsible? I've tried to pull it together davidlloydradio.com/post/why…

Less than a week after having the banjo player from Mumford & Sons on, Newsnight is now platforming this load of cobblers, and clipping it for social media.

Earlier today, I chaired a meeting of the APPG for Town Centres, with an agenda focused on tackling organised crime on the high street. As a result of the evidence we gathered, I've this afternoon submitted these questions to ministers to help us tackle this problem.
