Great memory! I inherited this job from Volker Weidler, who had suddenly ended his racing career. So in Japan I raced in Formula 3000 with lots of testing, plus the Japanese sports car championship, and the highlight was the F1 tests with Mugen Honda and Bridgestone. I thought I was already really fit from F3000 and sports cars, but those F1 tests were something else. We tested different tyre constructions and compounds, and at Suzuka we had to do 20 laps on every set, consistently and right on the limit. Without power steering, that took me to my physical limits.
Goodmorning everyone🙋♂️🏁
Heinz in the Tyrrell 020 which was adapted to fit the new Mugen-Honda V10 engine and fitted with Bridgestone's first F1 tyres. At Suzuka
Bridgestone would eventually supply per 1997 while Mugen would supply Footwork per 1992.
