True. But the local ordinary could also make clear, enough is enough. Then it’s on the Society.
Remember in Fr Martin's case he is answerable to his Jesuit superiors who all agree with his writings and encourage him.

If she said this about the Old Rite, Where Peter Is would issue a 6k diatribe within 24 hours.
Sister Mary Barron, the latest woman to be named a superior of a Vatican office, spoke about the Church’s missionary spirit, women’s role in Church leadership, and the possibility of women being ordained as priests. ewtnnews.com/vatican/new-vat…

It’s no surprise that so many of his devotees are also devotees of conspiracy theories.
The real reason Fr. Ripperger was silenced was for informing people of the devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows. If you know of the intensifying battle between good and evil then you would understand the panic evil must feel at the prospect of millions of devotees to Our Lady uniting their sufferings with Christ’s Passion. Can anyone deny the the rapidly deteriorating state of societies and possibly their own lives? The enemy must lash out with increasing fervor towards the end, like a trapped wild beast knowing its time has come. For those that practice the devotion to Our Lady daily this is not surprising news.

Every time he’s in the news, it’s another example of his delight in micromanagement.
Archbishop Edward Weisenburger said nearly all parish priests will receive new assignments next summer as the archdiocese reorganises its pastorates. thecatholicherald.com/articl…

We concluded with Benediction. I have been organising this event for about 20 years, and like Oxford's Corpus Christi procession in June it makes clear that Catholics belong here. The Catholic history and holy places of Oxford will not be forgotten. End/

It’s incredibly depressing. And it’s so needless.
One common and sad sight in the great churches of Christendom is side altars stripped bare and unused, or used only for potted plants, as here in the church where Padre Pio said Mass. As if it's always Good Friday and never Easter.

Benedict XVI spoke eloquently (and more clearly than any pope since Vatican I) about exactly how limited and circumscribed papal infallibility actually is.
It's funny that God keeps denying you a right wing Pope. Probably because he knows that you'd do full 180 and proclaim everything coming out of his mouth infallible.

A reminder that events are not in fact "part of the ordinary magisterium" And that Assisi 2.0 was quite different from the first and nothing like it has been done since is a reminder the critics were right, its just nobody is allowed to admit it.
Curia cardinal links opposition to 1986 Assisi prayer meeting to ‘schismatic rupture’ Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad has linked traditionalist opposition to the 1986 Assisi interreligious prayer meeting to a “schismatic rupture” and argued that the event now forms part of the Church’s ordinary Magisterium ✍️@NiwaLimbu1988 advaticanum.com/article/curi…

Pius IX, Pius X, Pius XII, Paul VI, and Francis represent the papal maximalist school. Ideologically, they were more alike than not. Leo XIII, Benedict XV, Pius XI, John XXIII, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI were markedly different from the maximalists, albeit in diverse ways.

The Pope decides who is catholic, sayeth Pius IX. Love the Pope sayeth St Pius X. We still have a long road ahead in overcoming Vat1.

Don’t forget the frequent rubric about how the priest doesn’t have to “say the black.” It’s farcical to try to be rigidly obsessive about the rubrics of a liturgy that promotes wide variety as a feature, not a bug.
Glad to see bishops wanting uniformity in liturgy. So which of the 3 introductory rites, 3 penitential act, 2 creeds, multitudinous prefaces, 6 primary Eucharistic prayers, and 4 Memorial Acclamations do they want to mandate next?

It’s the latest instance of the toxic Spirit of Vatican I.
Has fidelity to the Catholic Faith become confused with loyalty to the prevailing ecclesiastical agenda? Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad's extraordinary remarks about the controversial 1986 Assisi gathering raise a deeply troubling question: have some senior churchmen become so invested in defending the pastoral priorities of recent pontificates that they are losing sight of the distinction between immutable Catholic doctrine and the prudential decisions of individual popes? The cardinal not only suggests that the legacy of Assisi now belongs to the Church's ordinary Magisterium, but invokes the schismatic rupture of Archbishop Lefebvre when discussing those who opposed the event. Since when did legitimate theological criticism of a papal initiative become something to be mentioned in the same breath as schism? This is very wrong headed and worrying!

A wonderful thread from @LMSChairman showing the life of Catholic Tradition on the ground in England: always on the move, always growing, always directed to the Lord. It gives hope for the future. 😇
Some photos from the @latinmassuk Oxford Pilgrimage last Saturday. A Sung TLM took place in Holy Rood, Abingdon Rd, a modern church, but then the Church's liturgical patrimony is for everyone, and everywhere. 1/

I’m old enough to remember when the retconning of Catholicism was something they tried to do with enough subtlety that it felt more like garden variety gaslighting than “this obviously idiotic thing was actually good”
NEWS: Cardinal Prefect George Koovakad has linked opposition to the 1986 Assisi interreligious prayer meeting to a “schismatic rupture” and argued that 1986 Assisi now forms part of the Church’s ordinary Magisterium. His Eminence said: “Not everyone understood it. Integrist circles contested that day, even making it one of the reasons for a schismatic rupture; others feared syncretism or relativism, as they still do today.” “With these words, 27 October 1986 enters into the ordinary teaching of the Magisterium. It is no longer merely an event to remember: it is a criterion through which to interpret the present,” Full report at @RealAdVaticanum advaticanum.com/article/curi…

It’s certainly true that there is a certain sort of priest (and layman) from that era who is rendered apoplectic by any hint of the Old Rite, even when the hint is completely permissible under the new rubrics.

Now that’s clericalism.

It isn’t hard. Demons are liars. They cannot be trusted. There is no good reason for someone to know what they said in some exorcism, which is why the Church has always counseled exceptional discretion. The best exorcists keep their mouths shut and just do the job.
Replying to @pluant
Fr. Ripperger has already addressed this. You don't know the history of how exorcisms were used as public instruction tools going back centuries. You're sanctioning someone for something isn't a real offence (see interview below): piped.video/watch?v=_KfijbBh…

This is what we've been saying for years. The bitterest opponents of liturgical renewal are those who can't bear to admit they made a mistake half a century ago.

Quite incredibly, Fr Turner seems to say in that article that the faithful shouldn't pray the St Michael prayer after Mass (among various other things) because it will hurt the feelings of older clergy...!!

And this is exactly why Ripperger’s behaviour was dangerous. It inspires needless interest/curiosity. And no, it’s not a “misrepresentation.” His interviews are replete with reports of demon discussions. It’s needless, it’s imprudent, and it’s not traditional.
Replying to @pluant
He has been very clear that he does not engage in discussion with demons or needlessly discuss things. That is a misrepresentation. Sometimes they are compelled to reveal certain things that have to do with their particular vices / name, and how they will be removed. This is what he brings up - & yes sometimes it is very interesting.

The most problematic thing he did was the needless discussions with demons and reporting thereon. The Ritual is very clear on all this. Indeed demons are liars, and it’s exceedingly imprudent to talk to them needlessly, and above all to report what they said.
I've had several exorcists and laity involved in exorcism ministry privately talk to me about this news. They respect Fr. Ripperger and appreciate his work, while acknowledging that Fr. Ripperger has engaged in concerning practices. Among them is Fr. Ripperger's practice of interrogating demons. Demons lie, as every exorcist knows. Nothing they say can be trusted. There are a minimal set of questions permitted in the rite of exorcism, and they say Fr. Ripperger goes far beyond these - and then in public interviews he repeats the answers he receives. Others have said the methods of his community (Society of the Most Sorrowful Mother) have harmed victims of demonic possession. I am aware of a lengthy demonic outbreak at a traditional religious community in 2023, where one of Fr. Ripperger's priests was sent to help. According to the community, as well as the victims of possession, that priest's methods caused greater harm than good, and did nothing to ease the affliction. It wasn't until another exorcist from a different community was sent to them that the demonic affliction ceased within days. People have strong loyalties to Fr. Ripperger, and for good reason. I've learned a great deal from him, and have listened to many hours of his talks and interviews. But as I said in my prior post, there may be reasons why his bishop (a trained exorcist himself) is asking Fr. Ripperger to take a fast from public speaking and focus on his community. I find it a good example that Father is submitting to his bishop in humble obedience, and I know that he has asked that Catholics not attack his bishop. Let's pray for all involved. 🙏
