I have officially logged my first 1000 hours on cod since coming out of retirement back in march (i stopped playing MP after AW, first cod MP back was bo7).
and i gotta say, that CoD is still pretty great. i know it gets a lot of shit now from every angle, and its losing popularity, every release is considered a failure, etc. but from an OG prospective, its still great lol. BO7 was a dream come true to me, like most people, I adored bo2 and its my most played cod ever, and bo7 almost perfectly captures that same experience from back then. yes its a direct sequel and many of the traits are bo2 inspired which makes my transition easier, but even the new aspects of cod like endgame, WZ, zombies structure, seasonal releases, etc. were a tremendous amount of fun (besides the totally fucked weapon balancing of seasonal guns lol).
ive also retroactively gone back to play other new gen cods like bo6, mw23, coldwar, mw19, and now mw4; and though none of them captured that cod feel that i loved with old gen and bo7; they were by no stretch bad games besides mw19 and mw4 which dont feel like cod, they feel like a weird battlefield sub mode. however coldwar, mw23, and bo6 were welcomed experiences that i did enjoy, and if i played them in their primes i probably wouldve enjoyed them a lot more, which i recognize.
i think Cod, content wise, is in a good place and receives more hate than it deserves (besides IW stuff, then need to be removed by activision lol). and i hope to see cod come back into the light again with the people. of course that means cod needs to remove SBMM and some other undesired features, but the games as they are content wise, are all pretty good. and the last 3 years proves that. and im honestly looking forward to the next 1000 hours:)
