Reminder that if you have over $10m TVL it’s free to go through STRIDE. If you have over $10m TVL and you haven’t gone through STRIDE, that is wildly irresponsible. Just do it. It’s so incredibly valuable.
Shoutout @asymmetric_re! We recently went through STRIDE at @ImperialPerps. The changes we made as a result of the program have made the incidents of the last few days much less stressful!

the problem with solana is we have too many *smart* developers we need more *dumb* developers i can't be the only one

2 years later as per tradition albert is great
look the foundational problem with ethereum protocol design is that most of the people designing the protocol don't actually use ethereum themselves. you can't fix the right things if you don't use your own fucking product. you don't have enough skin in the game if you don't personally depend on the system you're designing & stand to lose money when it breaks. i understand, everything looks great from an ivory tower lol. things look very different when you're actually on the ground dealing with the consequences. if you don't use ethereum yourself but still think you're qualified to design its protocol, you're playing god with a system you don't have to live with and whose consequences you don't have to suffer.

ai-generated text always does this. it's very annoying "here's a secret most people miss" the thing about ai is it doesn't know how to tell between descriptive and persuasive writing. it's all just text. the structure is ALWAYS the same: 1. XYZ happened 2. "but this is what the experts are missing" 3. incredibly obvious consequence of XYZ happening it tells a lot about the text data the AIs were trained on. most of the writing in the past maybe 15 years was written by journalists who write by the word and want to persuade others that their writing (however banal) is worth reading most writing is for the piece's specific audience and not for a general one, but journalists love to take topics nobody cares about and force it on the reader. AI is doing the same thing now.

and because it just works, you don't have to
"anza just launched alpenglow, the most substantial tech change since solana's inception" "incredible this changes everything" "do you know what alpenglow does?" "no, do you?" "no"

everything is insecure you’re going to need to: - fab your own chips for your devices - develop a personal software stack on a bespoke ISA - avoid PHP, Typescript or Go - lay your own personal undersea cables (if applicable) only then will you be safe from CVE hellscape

huge accomplishment. congrats @bw_solana, the entire @anza_xyz team, many of whom have been grinding nonstop since years before the network went live and any of this was validated as being worth anything in a crowded landscape. engineers relentlessly improving performance.
In 2022, Ethereum shipped The Merge, migrating its consensus protocol from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake. It was an engineering feat 7 years in the making. Today is @solana’s Merge. Shoutout to the engineers at @anza_xyz for shipping Alpenglow in a fraction of the time.

Alpenglow is live! It's been a crazy grind over the past 20 months bringing this to mainnet. Huge shoutout to the Anza engineering team, @TheWattenhofer and the research team, the Anza security team, all our auditors and bug bounty participants. And of course the validator operators who spent countless hours with their own hardware to help us test and bring this to mainnet. We couldn't have done this without you all! Lets AlpenGO.
Alpenglow is live on mainnet-beta ⛰️ 🎉 Solana’s new consensus protocol: finality reduced from 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds, built by Anza. Why this is important 🧵
