Omarchy on the M4 MacBook Air has its first round of fixes since the alpha. They ship as signed packages. Connect once with one pasted line, then run omarchy-m4-update for new fixes. Thanks to @rish3636 for contributing. What's fixed 🧵 #OmarchyMac #OmarchyLinux

Omarchy on the M4 MacBook Air got a lot better today. Run omarchy-m4-update and you get: • GPU fix: some Airs never reached the desktop because the GPU driver expected one exact power limit. Each Air's own limit is accepted now, tested on two Airs. • The headphone jack works: clean stereo, and it switches over when you plug in. Thanks luth-v! • Closing the lid locks the screen. • No more keyring errors when you run pacman as your normal user. Thanks @rish3636! After updating, restart once for the GPU fix and headphones, and log out and back in once for the lid lock. New installs: installer update 2 works on macOS 26.6.2 (thanks again, luth-v). Same system, byte for byte. Tonight on the bench: • Working toward the 4.4 GHz bursts macOS gets, without overheating. Step one, letting idle cores sleep, is in testing: a P core at 3.6 GHz now holds a full 20 seconds and peaks at 91 °C. Without it, the same test hit 105 °C in half a second. • Working out how to prove this build runs on any M4 Mac, not just my Air, using what Asahi did for M1 and M2. github.com/Kb2uka/Omarchy-M4… #OmarchyMac #OmarchyLinux #Linux

Linux 7.4 is coming for Apple’s M4 Macs. And even the A18 Pro MacBook Neo is joining the list. The kernel is set to add the first upstream device-tree support for the M4 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac. That brings up the CPU cores, power states, framebuffer, I²C and other core hardware. It’s enough to start booting Linux on these machines. GPU support and plenty of other hardware still need work, but this is a major step toward proper mainline Linux support on Apple Silicon. Source: phoronix.com/news/Linux-7.4-…

Touch ID is very much a real thing, however faking out the SEP and pretending to be a Macintosh is tricky business. It's built specifically to prevent people from brute forcing it, so it when comes to reverse engineering you need to be pretty careful or you are quickly locked out of your Mac and forced to DFU restore @buildwithdjdev has done amazing work getting it to the point where myself and others are able to test on different hardware with various states of OS X install configurations. The reason it's not moving AS fast as other features is that the stakes are high, it can break machines ! But it's going to SHIP 🚀🚢 !

M4 running in the m1n1 hypervisor With macOS running on the hypervisor means they can inspect all the commands macOS sends to the hardware, this means full Linux support is just a matter of time now

I’m building unslop-macos27 — open source tool to strip Apple Intelligence + Siri from macOS 27. Goal: reclaim 5–15GB, kill idle CPU drain from daemons you never asked for. Not finished. Need help. 🧵 github.com/Rish3666/unslop-m…

If you’ve ever booted Recovery just to csrutil disable for fun — this is your sign. Star it, fork it, open a PR, or just comment on an issue. Every bit unblocks the next GB. github.com/Rish3666/unslop-m… → /issues → /blob/main/AGENTS.md RTs of post 1 help a lot. 🙏

Who I need: • APFS / sealed volume / firmlink people (issues #1–#3 are brutal) • Shell folks to fix the path globbing + error UX (#4–#6) • Testers on other macOS 27 builds / Intel Macs • Anyone who’s fought MobileAsset / .AssetData locks AGENTS.md has full filesystem findings
23
What’s already working: → SIP / Authenticated Root detection + Recovery walkthrough (incl. FileVault decrypt via diskutil) → defaults to disable AI, Siri, Hey Siri, lock screen, Spotlight suggestions → cache cleanup + background service kill
18
The problem: macOS 27 ships Apple Intelligence on by default. On-device models sit in AssetsV2 — we measured ~15GB on an M4. Background Siri/AI processes chew CPU while you do nothing. If you’re about to rice your Mac with Omarchy… this is step 0.

A Reddit user gave Claude Code their HP laptop's BIOS dump. Asked it to unlock the firmware. Claude disassembled the signature-check code. Found the RSA-2048 verification function. Then wrote a Python script to bypass it. The user modified the BIOS. Flashed it back. Got access to four hidden menu tabs. Dozens of hidden firmware settings. All because Claude Code reverse-engineered the security. HP's BIOS throws a corruption error if it detects modification. Claude found the exact byte that triggers it. Then showed how to change it. The user used Ghidra to disassemble. UEFITool to extract. Unicorn Engine to emulate the signature check outside the real BIOS. Then used cryptography libraries to generate valid test signatures. Claude wrote all the scripts. Guided every step. The disclaimer says get a chip flasher like a CH341A in case it bricks. Translation: this might brick your laptop permanently. The user did it anyway. And it worked. HP spent engineering resources on RSA-2048 signatures. Claude spent five minutes showing how to break them. The post says the Python script at the end might work with similar HP models. So now anyone with Claude Code and a BIOS dump can unlock their laptop. HP's security. Dead in one conversation.
‼️ A Reddit user used Claude Code to defeat the RSA-2048 signature check on their HP laptop's BIOS, then unlock dozens of hidden firmware settings and four hidden menu tabs.
Community note
The described method did not break RSA-2048 encryption, which remains computationally infeasible to crack, but instead used known BIOS modding techniques to bypass the signature check. x.com/chrisprice/sta… x.com/kristoph/statu…

I hate wasted resources. But cloud scaling is slow, reactionary & expensive. So, I’m building a way out: an AI-driven platform that completely automates cloud server management for zero downtime & ultra-low latency. Devs should build products, not fight servers. 🛠️ #DevOps

Repurposed an old HP All-in-One (Pentium J5005, 8GB) into a 24/7 K3s homelab. 15W idle. Navidrome, Nextcloud, MariaDB, Redis, Minecraft, Glance dashboard. All on e-waste. Repo: github.com/Rish3666/rish-kub… Don't throw away old hardware. It still serves.
