I’m not the first to say it, but wow: You Can See Everything is a must-watch. No spoilers, but: it’s surprising in ways I’d never expect. Beautifully shot & scored. It was not on my bingo card for being one of the best films of 2026. But, yeah. Wow. piped.video/HvW_N5p1q44?si=XCkS…

Eliminating fraud should be a bipartisan issue, and I know many people of both parties agree Giving a 1% commission on turning in fraudsters is an excellent idea Anyone operating a blatant fraud scheme is now liable to be turned in by their friends, by their employees, by anyone who knows what they’re up to Regardless of your feelings about the President, the idea of crowdsourcing fraud detection is probably the only way to root it out systematically Bravo
President Trump announced a new federal fraud whistleblower incentive program that he says will pay Americans, including journalists, a 1% commission for reporting fraud and corruption involving taxpayer dollars. "If you turn somebody in and you, let's say, report, and you find $1 billion, we are giving a commission to that person of 1%. It's a lot of money," Trump said.

And I genuinely don’t understand why many people oppose Nick Shirley or would be against this whistleblower 1% incentive program Seriously, what’s the good-faith counter argument as to why this is bad?

Peter Thiel has a blunt test for whether a startup team is thinking clearly. Watch how they talk about their own outcomes. His observation: when founders start framing results as luck — "maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, so let's just invest a little and see" — that's not prudent risk management. That's a diagnostic failure. The mechanism is specific. Luck-framing doesn't emerge from humility. It emerges from not having done the analytical work to understand *why* your business will win. If you've truly mapped the competitive dynamics, the customer psychology, the timing — you don't describe the outcome as a coin flip. You describe what needs to be true and why. The portfolio mindset ("let's see what happens") is what you default to when you don't have conviction built on evidence. Thiel's sharpest version of this: the founders of Google, Amazon, and Apple in their early days weren't operating on hope. They had specific theories about why they would win that others couldn't see yet. Bezos mapped out why e-commerce would scale through selection and logistics before the market existed. That's not luck-denial — that's rigorous foresight presented as conviction. When a founding team tells you "we'll figure it out," the question isn't whether they're optimistic. It's whether they can articulate the actual mechanism of their advantage. If they can't, the luck framing isn't a personality trait. It's a capability gap. Blaming luck is what you do when you've stopped thinking.

There's an insidious new type of slop happening at work. Email used to just be other people's todo list for your life. Now the people you work with are driven by their AI agents, which often lack the context to know what matters for them, let alone for you. So they ask you for things as if they were priorities. It feels off because it is: Email is now other people's agent's todo list for your life. This is going to take some work to fix.

Really nice articulation of design from @zoink: "Design is different than creativity. It's not just creativity, it's also problem solving. And the combination of the two ... I just find it fascinating. Because you have a user, you're trying to solve their needs, you're trying to do so in a way that stands out as creative and it connects with them. And also, you have to connect to wider systems: the marketing brand, the culture, the business problems, and so on. And holding all that in your head at different levels of abstraction while trying to deliver a screen or a flow — that from a search-based standpoint could be a combinatorial explosion — is just pretty cool, it's pretty fascinating. I'm personally really excited about it."

Many of the super high valuation early stage rounds that are announced have 2-tiered structures. Large firms have adopted the strategy to artificially inflate valuations and the perception of success and traction (king-making) and at the moment it is working for founders. For example, we will invest $10M at $100M and $50M at $1B. They are buying 15% ownership with $6OM, so the effective valuation is $400M, but the announced round is at $1B. That is all fine, except the lead is investing at $400M while the existing investors are asked to do their pro rata and invest at $1B. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over time.

As we’re all talking about misleading math on X today, here’s an ask for VCs and founders: If multi-tranche rounds are the new standard, then sharing the valuation for each tranche should be the standard too—instead of misleading employees and the public into thinking a company raised a massive round all at a massive valuation. The structure matters. The amount of capital raised at each price matters. And the blended economics matter. Maybe this happened in previous boom cycles too, but it feels particularly prevalent now. More importantly, it makes me much less likely to trust the numbers coming out of a company if they’re not willing to be honest about this Ok that's all

Getting my great great great grandfather’s pocket watch repaired this weekend He lived from 1815 to 1899, and we believe he bought this some time before 1874, when the manufacturer of the case went out of business. The movement is a Waltham, which started in 1850 So circa 1850-1874 Excited to get it running again

Today, we announce our $25M fundraise to build the future of creative work. For all of history, what you could create was dictated by the resources accessible to you. That's why we built @trymelius, the agents lab for creatives, to tear down that constraint and let agents leverage generative models to bring all your ideas to life. So that anyone can make anything. Huge thanks to @yuris at @generalcatalyst and @verorellana02 + @reidRMC at @CRV for leading the round, and to @gefkovicz + @benmtaft at @geniusventures, @amosk1120 + @adamvalkin at @VineVenturesLP, @jakepaul + @geoffwoo at @antifund, @rauchg, @bykahlil and many more amazing investors for taking a bet on us.

Announcing the 2026 𝝠 Expo App Awards 🙌 The talent, the care, and the craft we see in the Expo community is staggering. There are powerful, beautiful, important apps getting built with Expo tools and services every day. The 𝝠 Expo App Awards is a celebration of the apps and the people who build them. Last year we had over 1,200 submissions and winners from big enterprises, solo devs (we hired one of them @DaehyeonMun!), and tiny startups that have grown and been acquired. The award categories are: 🏆 Expo App of the Year 🏆 Most Creative 🏆 Community's Choice 🏆 Largest Scale 🏆 Most Innovative Submission criteria is simple: if your app uses Expo you should submit it. We encourage you to explain what is special about your app in the submission form. For example, if you have unique haptics, or clever Live Activities, or a super nuanced onboarding experience please share that in your submission. Submissions begin today and go through the end of the month. Then we'll begin evaluating and announcing nominees/winners. expo.dev/awards/2026
